que se jactan de su sueño
frente a quien el sueño evade,
siguen aplaudiendo
y despidiendo a los visitantes;
son el elenco de un triste carnaval
de un pueblo abandonado,
muy triste y muy mísero,
pero siempre
con sus brazos abiertos
de par en par.]

which brag about their sleep
in front of the one whom sleep avoids
in front of who is avoided by sleep,
keep applauding
and humming
and bidding farewell to the visitors;
they're the cast of a sad carnival,
so sad and so wretched,

with their arms
