What I take from the focus is that the things in the light are fleeting and chaotic while the depths of feeling are obscure, yet we are drawn to the depths, hoping to find meaning there or solace. This movement towards introspection captures an essential facet of what flowers mean to us as objects of contemplation, the dark side of flowering if you will. Were silk roses ever designed for any other reason than to invite nostalgia? Naturally they've been given other purposes, and yet looking at this photo one feels that such a fate must always have been inescapable. This photo makes me want to say "I'm sorry for your loss."
