this is a different edit of an old picture that i previously submitted. while looking through my work for photos to re-edit and touch up, i came across this... and when i was done re-editing it, i decided it had the potential to be it's own piece.please give me suggestions on the editing. it's the first time i've done editing like this
anyway. used silver efex, cropped, duo toned a little, sharpened, and blurred some distorted pixels.
here's the other piece from this photo (which i think looks very disgusting, but a lot of people liked it

when i first submitted this, i still got like ten faves on the other photo, because i included it in the artist comments. i was very surprised... and disappointed. the fact that my watchers think that looks good... makes me feel like a terrible artist.

I think your new version has much more impact. The contrast helps bring out more of the smaller details. Also, the cropping is much nicer showing more of the background and an off-center focal point.

i agree on all of these points
the only problem with this photo, that i can't really fix without it looking retarded, is some of the petals on the flower were almost completely whited out. i tried darkening them up, but the texture is completely gone

have you looked into trying a single frame HDR to pull out more detail?
