Despite the seemingly comical nature of the comic 3/4th of the main characters have dark backstories. General content warning for dark themes, including death both pokemon and human, sparse use of blood, lasting major injuries, neglectful/abusive parents/guardians, people in very bad mental states, ascended fridge horror, Arctozolt, Ditto, censored and pseudo swearing, main characters doing mean things to others with no remorse, a character unwittingly flirting with a minor though it never goes anywhere. All but the last three items on the list are taken seriously.

Author's Notes:
*I saw a half hour video on why comics should have prologues, and it convinced me to make one. I realized I may have been playing my cards a bit too tight to my chest and by wanting to save so many interesting bits as big reveals latter, I forgot to show bits to hook in the reader and get them interested into reading up to that part. So here you go, a page about Yuuya having a nightmare about his past, which hopefully gives an interesting insight that changes how people view him. I made this prologue for three reasons 1.to make readers interested by vaguely showing Yuuya's past 2. to show that despite how comical this comic seems that it will reach into darker topics and 3.show that the art does improve.
This page is a content warning in case someone missed it on the first post. The backstories of some of the characters are pretty messed up, so hopefully by having someone implied to have burnt to death on the first page it won't shock people too much when this appears to be a very silly comic. While I'm not into making things overly graphic, I won't shy away from sensitive topics.
I know that bad art can chase away people. But I also know that people improving their art over time can bring people in. By having the first page be significantly improved quality over the rest of the beginning pages it tells people that "don't worry, it gets better eventually". All the pages are of this quality after the first gym battle.
*While Yuuya is a Hatoful Boyfriend reference most of what happens in his nightmare doesn't actually happen in that game, so don't worry about spoilers. I wanted him to act similarly to who he's a reference to, but get there through means that exist in the pokemon world. Yuuya hasn't even spoken to Sayuka in this AU.
*When Yuuya talks about a level one Rattata he is talking about Fear Rattata. It's a strata where a level one Rattata will hold a focus sash to survive a hit then use Endeavor to get the foe to 1 hp. Then use quick attack on the next turn, KOing a foe. It can catch unprepared people off guard, though it's pretty easily beaten by a status or priority move.
