Here's AllstarMS 's character Ingris as a mermaid from my mermay raffle! She's such a pretty and interesting character, so she was very fun to draw
A bit of character backstory//what thoughts went into redesigning Ingris as a mermaid~ Ingris is an exiled princess, so I wanted to show that by adding a crown and a sceptre to her mermaid design. Because she wasn't able to unlock her magic powers, her father exiled her from the castle. She hasn't unlocked her magic powers yet, so even though it was very tempting to add some mermaid magic, I gave her a sceptre she could use a weapon too. She definitely seems like a fighter Since she has left her home, Ingris has been travelling from place to place, overcoming the struggles of suddenly being all on her own and even making some friends. And who knows...maybe she would also travel the seas as a mermaid in an alternate universe or something~
I hope I wasn't rambling or anything, I don't usually talk much about what thoughts went into creating my art~ 🙈

The pose you chose is nice as well, yet I can't be sure how efficient it'd be to sit like this in the water, and it'd not make swimming easy. I suppose she was posing for a friend ? By the way, isn't there something strange with her right arm? Isn't it too thick compared with the left one? I think we should see the "'other side" (I am not sure how to explain it) of it instead of it being hidden by her waist/side.
Regarding her outfit, I like the one you gave her (the starfish is soo cute) , it's very pretty and the colors match very well, both her hair and skin completion but also her surrounding and the color of her tail. The only thing I can wonder if it's would be easy to swim with such loose clothing. Besides, I am not entirely certain, but I believe it'd follow the flow of the water more than it actually does here in the picture, same goes with her hair (which are tied that's right, yet wouldn't it just go about everywhere, up or down? in particular the 'bangs"/strings of hair on the side of her face? Or the string keeping her.. sleeves in place? And the pearls at the end of her tail, how can they stay like this? Would it be some sort of mermaid magic? ^^ Just kidding, they are very nice.
Lastly, about the picture in itself, I am not sure she can really hold her scepter like this, her fingers are perhaps a bit too loose and it'd not be easy to react if there is a danger nearby (sea are full of dangers!). Actually, given how pretty it is, I don't see how it can be used as a weapon. Perhaps a sort of club? I guess, even though I'd not hit someone with the jewel end of the scepter for fear it breaks ^^
Now about the little info/trivia you gave us of this character, it's sad that she was exiled from her kingdom, but then again, her father wasn't that bad if he let her go with a very precious crown and a (I suppose) very expansive scepter - even though, about those two 'artifacts', it can just be for the picture and, she doesn't "really" have them - and with the proper training and education, I am certain she'll manage fine on her own.
Oh, and I love how you made the bubbles!

As a hole, vary vary pretty.
The colors are so nice too look at and the bubbles are painted well.
I don't like how her eyebrow connects to her nose, but there are ways to make it look nice... not sure how though...
I love her tail, it's super cool looking with its testers.
And her hair too.

Da du Deutsch sprichst, vermeide ich mal die doppelte Übersetzungs-Fehlerquelle... Werd's allerdings für die Gruppe noch mal in Englisch untendrunter zusammenfassen.
Ich bin ein großer Blau-Fan, daher gefallen mir die Farben dieses Bildes besonders gut. Die Seifenblasen sind toll geworden. Und die Prinzessin ist hinreißend. Technisch habe ich nix zu meckern (könnte ich auch gar nicht berechtigt), man sieht nur, wo du die Hintergrund-Blasen kopiert hast. Aber alle einzeln zu malen... hätte ich wahrscheinlich auch nicht
Die größten Schwierigkeiten habe ich mit der Logik des Bildes.
- Wenn die Blasen Seifenblasen sein sollten, dürfte ihr das gar nicht guttun. Wenn Seife schon in den Augen weh tut, möchte ich nicht wissen, was sie mit unseren Lungenbläschen anstellt. Wenn es Luftblasen sein sollen, müsste dieses tolle bunte Schillern weg, denn das wird leider durch die Seife / das Glyzerin hervorgerufen.
- So alt und stereotyp der Muschelbikini ist, so "sinnvoll" ist er auch (wenn man davon ausgeht, dass das Ganze Safe for Work bleiben soll). Diese wunderschönen Kleider wären unter Wasser wohl mehr als hinderlich (und würden wahrscheinlich auch anders fallen).
- Der Schwanz scheint mir sehr stark geknickt, mehr wie Beine als wie ein Fischschwanz. Bei deinem Bild "Hatsune Miku Mermaid" hast du das auch schon gemacht. So bewegen sich Fische aber nicht, da sie über ein völlig anderes Skelett verfügen; es ist mehr ein Halbkreis oder eine andere sehr fließende Rundung als solch eine "Ecke". So sieht es leider aus, als hätte sie sich einen dieser anziehbaren Meerjungfrauen-Schwänze über die Beine gezogen. Allerdings finde ich die Textur sehr schön, die du dafür gewählt hast, die sieht super aus.
- Das Szepter, das du ihr gegeben hast, ist wunderschön und sehr elegant. Unter Wasser muss es aber schon fast magisch sein, damit sie es als Waffe benutzen kann, denn der obere Teil wird sonst viel zu viel Wucht durch Wasserwiderstand. Daher haben Tritons eigentlich immer Dreizacke oder andere Waffen, die eher spitz und "stromlinienförmig" sind, weil Hieb- und Schnittwaffen unter Wasser fast gar nicht funktionieren.
Summa summarum: ich finde das Bild toll. Du hast nur nicht in Betracht gezogen, dass Wasser ein völlig anderes Medium ist als Luft, und dass sich dem alles unterordnet.

Logical problems:
- Soap bubbles? Would do harm to her lungs. Air bubbles? Wouldn't shimmer that colourful.
- Beautiful clothing, but very unsuitable to underwater needs (and probably different flow underwater).
- Tail very sharply bent; fishtail bends more curvy. Awesome texture on the fishtail.
- Very elegant scepter, but no good weapon underwater because of water resistance.
Summa summarum: Great picture that simply doesn't take into account the different medium mermaids live in.

Ich stimme dir zu, die Logik ist das größte problem in diesem Bild...Die Seifenblasen wären Unterwasser nicht möglich und wahrscheinlich wie du auch sagst, ziemlich ungesund...Ich wollte mit den blasen ein bisschen mehr Farbe ins Bild bringen, aber sie sehen bezogen auf den Kontext des bi8ldes schon sehr unglaubwürdig aus
Ich habe noch nie drüber nachgedacht, aber richtige Meerjungfrauen (und Männer natürlich) würden sich mit ihre Flossen anders bewegen als mit beinen. Wie du richtig sagst eher wie Fische...Ich denke es ist für mich mal sinnvoll anzuschauen wie fische sich im Wasser bewegen und das dann auf Meerjungfrauen zu übertragen. Vielen Dank dass du mir diesen Tipp gegeben hast, ich denke er wird mir sehr helfen in Zukunft bessere Posen zu gestalten!
Das selbe gilt auch für das Szepter! Ohne Magie wäre das wahrscheinlich doch ziemlich nutzlos...Das nächste mal werde ich beim gestalten einer Waffe auch an den nutzen denken und evtl auch etwas mehr recherchieren. Die Kleidung wäre wahrscheinlich auch ziemlich hinderlich, aber da das Design des Characters ein Redesign ist, wollte ich die Kleidung des Originals größtenteils behalten.

Unter Wasser wären vielleicht Fische oder Seepferdchen eine mögliche Wahrl für ein paar Farbtupfer. Oder, da ich die Welt des OCs nicht kenne, ggf. auch ein paar Fantasiewesen. Die einfachste Art, es umzuarbeiten, wäre wohl, Quallen draus zu machen. Die können auch schillern.
Für die Bewegung, schau dir vielleicht mal Disneys Arielle die Meerjungfrau an, da ist das ziemlich gut gemacht. Du hast so fließende Bewegungen übrigens schon in deinen Bildern drin: die langen Zöpfe der Mädels machen ja auch keine Knicke
Für die Kleidung könnte ich dir höchstens vorschlagen, sie zu einem Teil ihres Körpers zu machen - das Oberteil könnte eine Schuppenzeichnung sein, und an den Armen könnten Flossenschweife sitzen, wie ein Schleierschwanz sie hat. Die hätten unter Wasser ja vielleicht sogar noch einen Nutzen. Nur Ärmel sind kein Teil des Körpers und können daher auch keinen Nutzen bringen. Dann würde ich aber auch die Schwanzflosse in der Art umgestalten.

One of the first things she did after being exiled was visiting a neighboring kingdom populated by merfolk where she asked mermaids to help teach her their magic. Though nothing came from it, she made a few merfolk friends there. c:
