haha yea, well here's a tip
when in the color selector go in between the orange and the red, then go over to where you drag the color around more towards the top left. Or set the numbers to R:255 G:227 B:199 then you can drag it around and mess with tones and get a feel for it.
If that doesn't work there are some things out there that you can download and open in there that have a wide range of skintones [link] [link] [link]
And don't feel bad I did something similar when I first started learning. Also don't feel bad about finding and using tutorials, they help a lot and show you things you may not have known about!

Well I didn't do the lineart to that picture, I only colored it. I don't have the tools to ink my own art yet but when I get it I will probably use 3 methods.
Inking in black
Outlining in colors
or No lines
like does in most of hers.
