We got Io Shirai's commemorative v10 DVD, which means it is her successful ten defenses of the World of Stardom title. In Japan that is a record for title defenses. She is probably the greatest active wrestler in the world of women's pro wrestling. I've always been a fan of Joshi but this year we subscribed to World of Stardom and it is so worth the $5/mo. just to see my favorite sport in such an environment as Japan.

One thing about Joshi and all puroresu in general; the best match of the card is always the main event. The opening matches are almost always rookies, or veterans taking on rookies. With the midcard being more predominantly veterans. Each match is almost certainly better then the last until the final, main event. Although in theory this is the way stateside promotions run things, it's not always the case. The majority I've seen the main event is always "good", but the best match of the card is a toss up. It's like the bookers here in the states get so involved with their storylines the end up putting people less experienced or talented so far up the card that the best match may well be towards the middle.

Con Report: Business slow first day. No sales. Second day, sold to a friend and two strangers. Third day more friends came out. If it wasn't for our friends we wouldn't have made enough to pay for the table. However, still in the red once you factor in print costs, etc.

From what several other con-goers have told me, at the start, the main thing you're doing at cons is spreading your name out there and networking.  Making any real sales is something that's supposed to come later. So fingers crossed that you're getting out there and hopefully each show will be better than the last!

Well, nobody really did well at this con. I talked to a lot of the other artists, and some vendors. The general feeling was that sales were lower then compared to other years and mainly due to the overabundance of the celebrity guests. Stan Lee was there and made $400k over the three days signing autographs. Which is great for the convention but as one artist pointed out that's $400k that's not "going to the tables". And there has been an increase in the number of media guests each year with this particular con. We may skip it next year for this reason.

It seems there is an invisible "tipping point" where the number of celebrity guests actually works against the vendors and artists of a convention. Some con-goers actually never left the media guest area even though they were present all three days. They were waiting in lines all that time.

Sure, though it's really simple at the heart of it.

Vistaprint does them, along with selling the stands.  You'll want to make sure the art you use is 300 dpi or greater, but that's pretty standard.  You can apply text and the like on top of what graphics you include, if you need to use a pre-existing piece.  You can also add the scan code thingies with web links too.

The banner size you see in my pics is 2.5' x 4', but there are larger sizes as well.

Oh, easy! The stands even come with travel bags, which I found was a nice touch.  The banners themselves store pretty much as any poster (I kept the shipping box and original bags to keep them easily sorted).

The banners are that high quality fabric as a base, so they seem awful tough and the print quality is very high.  The stands are light-weight but showed no problems or signs of wear from the con.  I can see them lasting quite a while if treated well.
