XD I volunteer in a neurosurgery lab that does some BMI implants designed to treat stuff like epilepsy or hearing difficulties, but they're teaching some patients how to move icons on a screen just by thinking about it and stuff like that. However, for my long-term studies, I'm thinking.....CYBORGS. Heheheh...

Woo! After one summer semester, the peeps in my lab said I might go as far as implant BMI's, but nothing at the level you're talking about. We do surgery on rats to look at the premotor cortex. I love the little things to death, though. They always have me hold them when we have to plug them into the computer... good grief, never though I'd come to think rats as cute. I plan on hopefully one day making the world's first affordable, more or less stable, and rather durable prosthetic arm (with lasers and rocket launchers for those who like the world domination package). But I'm a far cry from that.

XD;;; I'm not the one doing the implants! All I've done with the BMI work was type up an preliminary-study form for a study they wanted to do on 'em! :T What I'm working on right now is a study on the neuropsychological effects of anterior temporal lobectomy on epilepsy patients, which in normal-people language means what kind of surgery for cutting-out-bits-of-your-brain-to-stop-seizures does the least amount of damage to language skills. Hopefully, this work shall impress graduate and medical schools so much that they shall fall over themselves to accept me and offer me Nobel prizes, or something. XD;;
o.o But seriously? I am TOTALLY about the prosthetic arms. One of the graduate schools I want to get into is Duke university, who taught a monkey to move a robot arm to get food. And you KNOW that once we've got the prosthetic arms, the arm rocket launchers aren't too far behind.
And of COURSE my cyborgs will be reminiscent of Battlestar Galactica! u.u Although I will have some Ghost-in-the-shell or Borg style cyborg packages for those who prefer a different genre of cyborg domination. It's all about the marketing, man.
