Hey all. The underlying motivation for this is the magnetic moment (the vector quantity relating an object’s magnetic field to its angular momentum by τ = μ × B) Looping motion of a charged particle, a current, can create a rather.. attractive magnetic field, one just like dipole in fact. And well, the attraction here is meant in more than one sense. So take care, the infalling orbit is electrifying.

Physics side note: μ is relevant in many areas in physics (like the well known Muon g-2 experiments where discrepancies arise in the expected value of the Muon’s magnetic moment, μ = 2+g ≠ 2).
