Bondage has never been my cup of tea and the thought of tying a girl up has always freaked me out. However Kayla and I had pretty much a "no-limits" type of working relationship. In many ways she remains my favorite model of all time because there really wasn't a line we would not cross for the sake of creativity. She could emote and live in a shot like no model I have ever known, she could "become" the dream in the picture and gave so much of herself when she was in front of the camera that it made for some of my best work ever - even though my technique was still raw at the time. I would never have evolved as a photographer without her as my muse. There was a negative aspect to our relationship that occurred outside the picture frame however and it eventually blew up in my face... but that is a whole other story. In any case this bondage series became more about 'freedom' - the struggle to break bonds than it was about anything else and I suppose that has to do with being true to ourselves.
