A gifted engineer, Herman Schultz put his talents to use as a fairly succesful burglar. During a stint in prison he created a pair of gauntlets capable of firing blasts of high frequency shockwaves and a padded suit to protect him from the feedback of his new weapons. Promptly escaping from jail, Schultz would resume his life of crime as the Shocker. Preferring to avoid the attention of most superheroes by sticking to low level crime and bank robberies, Schultz's greed can sometimes lead him into taking part in grander schemes if the price is right.
