Description
This is my first, and possibly only, entry for the Official Flash Preloader Competition .This is an actual working preloader, and to show it in motion I've made the file about 1mb, so you can see what it would be like when loading. The concept and design is quite simple, but if you look at Newgrounds preloader, you'll find a similar theme and anyone who watches a lot of Flash movies knows how popular that is.
This design also allows the user to have the animation any size they like in terms of height and width. The only thing they'd need to change would be the size of the background, which is very easy.
The coding is also very basic and easy to manipulate for anyone with the know how. As you can see, I've included a place for the deviants to start their animation.
Also, one the animation has loaded, before you please "Play" move you're mouse over the deviantART logo. This will contain a link to deviantART's homepage in the actual version.

Unfortunately I don't have time. It's not too hard and there are heaps of tutorials on the internet, you should be able to find one in Google.

The reason I decided to include the link to deviantART was more for animations the ended up not on deviantART. I know there are a few well known animations from deviants that have appeared elsewhere, I believe this little bit of extra promotion would help deviantART.
You're right though, for animations that are to be submitted as deviations, its probably not necessary. At this stage the button isn't working correctly anyway, and on the off chance this actually won, I'd have to get someone to fix that.
But the file size with me adding in extra is actually quite small, even with the button.

I thought "a deviantART animation" was a nice addition rather than cheesy. I guess it could be removed, but we'll see.

One complaint, the use of the DA logo as a 'loading bar' was a good idea, but I find the colour change to be a bit too subtle
Also one mb download sucks on dialup

I'm not quite sure what you mean? Yes, this is a work preloader, so if you put it in any Flash it will load the correct amount of kb's and show the progression.

You should try one with Fella. Have him slowly "appearing" or "growing" from the feet up as the file loads, or something like that.

Flash? eeeh, somewhat. I know some things, but I haven't done it in a loooooong while. My last animation was a 8 second animation of a guy dancing. (The sad thing is thats recent. 
I'm working on a Flash DeviantART tutorial, but I only know some things about flash. and you? (well, you must be pretty good because the preloader turned out great!)

Hmmm, I found a button tutorial and it says how you get a button to appear. But, your trying to make the button appear in a new frame aren't you...

that is what the tut says, (which by the way is right here )
But maybe, since you have the extra " " around the comma, thats why its not working. Maybe you should try noting ~Makiavelli and seeing what he says.

Well, generally to learn Flash you use Flash...
The best place to start is just making some basic animation and working your way up.

Ahh that's okay. Its a simple button and should be working correctly, and when I run it off my PC the link works fine, its only here on deviantART it doesn't.
Perhaps some other people will be able to help me with this.

the link works when you hit download, it probably doesn't like being embedded
