There were a lot of things Karkat Vantas liked about his best friend.
He liked the playful split tongue, and how it felt when it was exploring his mouth, or his pulse, or his dick.
He liked the way he chuckled, like he had some big secret that he wasn't gonna tell you about.
He liked those mismatched eyes, and how, when Karkat was holding him close and rubbing his hip, they smoldered like a long-burning fire.
But his favorite thing? Oh, god, his favorite thing.
His favorite thing was the way, when they were post-coital and cuddled up with one another on the couch, Sollux would always quietly hum the same tune, right in his ear.
It was a sweet, happy sort of hum, not really haunting or even that melodic. But every single time Karkat felt a little chill run the length of his spine.
Sollux had a habit of making up little songs, probably an effect of his profession. At random times, he would hum, tap his feet, drum his fingers on any available surface. But the thing about that one song, was that Karkat ONLY heard it when they had just had sex.
It was always the same, and always quiet and affectionate and right in his ear. Sometimes, Sollux would hum it while pressing his face to Karkat's neck, so he could feel the vibrations up against his skin.
Karkat Vantas loved that song, because that song was about Sollux's love for Karkat Vantas.
