Map Making Process — Description

One thing about me is I absolutely ADORE making maps of fantasy and alien lands. I just love it. My favorite method of doing this is to eventually start painting on the topographical layers in rainbow format (so I can easily see what I'm doing), and then shifting the colors into grayscale, before adding basic land-like and ocean-like colors. Makes a really nice effect and showcases mountain and valley ranges really well.
This map is for one of my stories. Towards the bottom in the middle of the map are two little highlighted sections, those are the actual settings for the story, the rest of the planet is inconsequential, but I was having too much fun making it to leave all those precious land formations out.
