Description
Add-on to these stamps, and kinda inspired by someone's recent rant at me.
For one thing, I'm scared of childbirth.
...which is why I wish I didn't have a uterus, because mine is going to be useless. Yeah, sorry parents. No grandkids from me. Unless the STEM field makes advancement on artificial wombs, you might have to rely on my little brother for those instead.
And second...A lot of parents these days seem to be afraid of using any form of discipline. Especially when they're out in public and they let their kids run amok everywhere and be loud, noisy, and disruptive.
Almost every single time I see some obnoxious screaming child out in public, their parents let them climb on top of furniture, and basically let them treat every place like a playground...It makes me not want kids even more. I've seen parents let their child carry on screeching...and not say a fucking word to them about it. And I don't mean they let an infant carry on like that. Infants will do that. But I mean they would let their 7-8 year old child, who should know better by then, to scream and behave obnoxiously...And not do a thing about it, despite that the kid was disrupting/annoying everyone else around them. And I've seen kids being allowed to climb all over the tables and furnitures at restaurants and the parents either ignored them or encouraged the behavior.
"BUT THEY'RE JUST KIDS! "
Yeah, but...If you spoil them rotten by letting them do whatever they want and giving them whatever they want, even if it's just to keep them quiet and make them stop bothering you, then they're gonna grow up thinking "WE CAN DO WHATEVER WE WANT AND CAN GET AWAY WITH ANYTHING! " ...Aaaand that's how they become spoiled assholes when they're older. Such as the kids who complain about how their parents are horrible people, only because they got them the wrong iPhone. Or the kids who grow up thinking they can push other people around and bully people to get their way and there are no consequences for doing so. Yeah, that's how you get kids growing up to be like Trump.
You also don't want to control every aspect of their lives, or they'll end up being incredibly rebellious. Of course I still rebelled against mine anyway despite my decent upbringing, so I think every kid will still go through that phase at some point...But if you let them have their freedom, while still laying down a few restrictions, their rebellious phase won't be so horrible. The worst I did was avoid my punishment by finding my parents' hiding spots where they confiscated my favorite stuff. That's about it. Other than that, I think I did alright during my rebellious stage.
I fully understand many kids have special needs...Autism, Asperger's, etc, which unfortunately causes these types of symptoms in kids. But I've known plenty of people with those disorders and they still learned how to behave like civilized human beings anyway. I have ADHD, social anxiety, and depression and I exhibited some of these issues as a child too. And yet, I think I still turned out to be a somewhat decent person. :T
And don't get me wrong, there are plenty of kids who are great. One of the most heartfelt, motivating thing anyone has ever said to me came from a kid. And I tend to hang out with the teenagers at family parties, and kinda forget that I'm no longer a teen myself. I think that's mostly an occupational hazard though; as an animator, I seem to relate more to kids than adults and I have a natural childish disposition.
But I've also been treated rudely by kids too. I was once acting as a lunch supervisor for the middle-school grades at my old school. A lot of the kids in my little brother's class knew me/my family well and started playing harmless-but-really-annoying pranks on me during lunch (like shaking up a can of soda and calling me over to "help" them open it...Only for it to foam and gush all over my hands. ). And I can't tell you how many times I've had kids online behave like assholes, mostly because they just didn't like that I disagreed or said something they didn't like.
And the really noisy, squealing babies suddenly make me hate babies. I think it might have to do with my period sometimes, because during that time, screaming babies that wouldn't stop screaming suddenly made me want to yell out "FUCK YOU, BABY! " Haven't had that mood in a long time though...
I got lucky with some of the kids I babysat. My little brother was a rather cheerful, non-fussy baby, hardly ever cried.
...And then there are some brats that make me hate kids. And since more and more parents don't seem to want to show any discipline to their kids these days, they're making me want kids less and less. Maybe not even adopt one...My career alone is stressful. Adding taking care of a kid would triple that stress, I think...
My bf isn't interested in kids either...
