Contest Entry — Description
This is my contest entry for Lion Design Contest - Kuviza's Mate and Daughter!Hello hello everyone! It's time for another design contest from yours truly~"But Chippy, what are we designing?" Well, you'll be designing the mate of Kuviza, one of my favorite characters ever, and her daughter! Background Information:Kuviza's mate is named Msana. He used to have a previous design but I've decided to reuse the design elsewhere, so she needs a new mate. Her daughter is named Iska, and together with my character Kyan they have one son, Ayezi. Kuviza and Msana also have one son together, Iska's littermate Yekha.Their pride is based off of the old Viking way of life, so they're tough as nails and have large hearts.Current Family Designs:Kuviza's full body can be found here. Please not that she is not a maned lioness, that is simply a dorsal stripe marking that bleeds into her bangs.,Kuviza and Msana's son Yekha can be found here. Please see Ayezi's full body above for an example.Iska must have the same fluffy feet trait that Kuviza has.Some other tips to help you with the designs:The pride that these two belong to does not accept hybrids or other species other than lions. Therefore, any designs that have tiger stripes, cheetah spots, or leopard rosettes are not allowed.As the pride is based off of old Viking culture; big manes, big beards and fluffy designs are a good starting point!A braid here and there is okay but please not on Iska.Iska also does not have ear tufts.If giving Msana a big beard, please shy away from mustaches and instead just extend the beard up further onto the muzzle.Personality wise Msana is a honorable lion that fights for what is right and Iska is a firecracker huntress.Scars are OKAY! However please don't go overboard and leave them a scarred mess!The designs should be easy enough to replicate however that doesn't mean you have to make them super simple.I am a huge sucker for multi-colored manes. Feel free to play around with that!Decor is also good if you feel like it fits their character, however anything they have must be made of something found in nature. No bright blue beads or chain necklaces. If you would like to give them war paint designs feel free to, however make sure that it's both not on the full body itself and looks like it could have been done by a lion's paw or a primate. If a war paint design is included, please include a version without the decor.The only mutations that these characters may have is heterochromia, and please limit it to one character if you're submitting a design for both.Rules:Designs must be of a full body adult. You don't need to include a cub version.All designs must be flat colored, no shading allowed!Bases are allowed so long as they are original lineart, no traced bases. However, I will have a strong preference towards original work for choosing a winner. If you do choose to use a base please make sure to modify the lines to make the characters look unique.You do not have to be a watcher to join!You may submit up to three entries per character, just in case your creative juices are flowing!If your entry is chosen the designs become mine, you must be okay with that. Credit will be given on the reference sheet and the first time I feature them in an art piece.You may submit entries for one or both characters, but a preference will be given towards a set rather than two.PrizesAh yes, the prizes! If a set of two entries is chosen...The winner of the contest will receive $50 USD (or DeviantArt Points Equivalent) AND a free custom character commission! If two individual winners are chosen...Each winner will receive $25 USD (or DeviantArt Points Equivalent) AND a free custom character commission!
