SETSUBUN Feb. 3 — Description

A Harmonious World.
The Setsubun Festival was convened under the authority of the August Empress,
where princesses from every nation performed the ritual of bean throwing.
節分祭が八月皇妃による主催で開催された。
各国の姫たちによる豆まきが行われました。
Haduki:
“Hey—what are you eating, Utsuki!?
Those are for the bean-throwing! You’ll get a stomachache!”
Taroduki:
“So… SOSOU really get this attached to people?”
Kozue no Aki:
“Yayoi… that’s not bean-throwing anymore.
That’s seed-planting…”
Minaduki:
“Ohhh! That’s bold…
As expected of the Empress.”
葉月「ちょっと、何食べてんの！？卯月ちゃん！それ豆まき用だから、お腹壊すよ」
太郎月「双奏兎って、こんなに人に懐くのか」
梢の秋「弥生…それじゃぁ豆まきじゃなくて、種まきだよ…」
水無月「おおっ！豪快…さすが女帝」
SETSUBUN
Setsubun is a traditional Japanese event held at the beginning of February.
On this day, people perform mamemaki, a ritual where roasted soybeans are thrown.
While throwing the beans, people say
“Oni wa soto, fuku wa uchi”,
which means “Demons out, good fortune in.”
In Japanese folklore, oni (demons) symbolize misfortune, illness, and bad luck.
By throwing beans at the oni, people believe they can drive away evil spirits and invite fuku—happiness and good fortune—into their homes.
After the mamemaki, it is also common to eat the same number of beans as one’s age, wishing for health and good luck in the coming year.
