I've done an Iris/Scarecrow sketch. I did two (with more to come ) pictures of Ravyn/Spellbinder. I thought it only fair to complete the trilogy, so to speak, with the third generation. After all, Grandmama and Mama got their limelight, why shouldn't the youngest Empress?

So here she is, young Eris Crane with her lover. For those who followed Batman Beyond, you might recognize this young man as Jack Walker, older brother of Melanie Walker, otherwise known as "Jack" and "Ten", children of the Royal Flush Gang.

I confess that, of all my Rogue girls and their relationships, Eris and Jack's is very...interesting. They start off getting along like a cat and dog, with Melanie (serving as both best friend to Eris and little sister to Jack) being the one thing that ensures they don't kill each other. But the course of true love ne'er ran smooth, and obstacles eventually are overcome and emotional connections eventually accumulate to the moment of true love...oh God, I sound like a Hallmark card!

My mushy ramblings aside, this sketch is just a little image that holds a special place in my heart. A grand collection of other events come before this, but to spare all, it boils down to Jack coming to visit Eris, confused and frustrated and suffering from the age-old conflict of family vs. "listen to your heart" (forgive the cliche of it all). As usual, a great monologue follows, concluding with the epiphany that all the freedom and intoxication he could ever want has, in fact, been in front of him the entire time.

I swear to God it is not this pathetic in my head.

The song lyrics above, for any who aren't familiar with it, are from "Because You Live" by Jesse McCartney. Don't judge me!! The lyrics are supposed to be from Jack's perspective.
