You do know this is custom artwork, right? Not mass-produced stuff?
And the fact that Uriko has graduated from a very prestigious art college, so she COULD be charging professional prices, which could range from the hundreds to the thousands.

i'm not denying that it's a custom piece of artwork, and i follow her, i love her work, i'm just answering her question as to whether i would buy a badge from her for $20 with an honest and realistic answer for myself personally. i did not mean you could by exactly what she is selling in a store, i meant badges in general (which, yes are mass produced) i'm just saying that in a market where cute badges are readily available for very little money, uriko is going to have to make her prices more competitive in order to sell. regardless of what's on it, $20, in my opinion, is a little steep for a badge.

also i din't realise that leaving a polite, honest comment would mean that i would be treated with sarcasm and a nasty tone. i was simply answering a question on a piece of art that requested comments. feel free to disagree, but in future, i'll just keep my opinions to myself if this is the response i'm going to get.

If I came off rude or sarcastic, I apologize. But you need to understand that what you said was INCREDIBLY rude. I'm sure you're more use to DA's market, where people under-sell themselves incredibly. But in a more serious and larger commission market (like Furaffinity for example), a 20$ badge of this quality is EXTREMELY cheap. A more serious market understands the time, skill, and materials that go into making a custom badge, which also accounts for quality as well. That's why you can buy a cheap, flimsy, printed Nyan cat badge that millions of others can have for a buck fifty, but a quality, traditionally made, custom badge costs much more.
As a final note: Art is not a necessity, it is a luxury. She is not here to make her art more available to others by lowering her prices to rock bottom, she is here to offer a new type of commission that is very popular that people really like. In the future, do not insult an artist's prices. They can discover on their own that their product doesn't sell if no one is buying (which from what I can tell Uriko already has plenty of buyers on this already).

i'm sorry i didn't mean that, and i certainly didn't mean to be disrespectful, i just meant badges in general, not specifically yours. i'm sorry if my opinion is not one that people agree with, i'm just saying that to me $20 for a badge seems a little steep, but that's just my opinion, and clearly a lot of people think different

i didn't say i didn't like it, i really do, i like all your work

however, i was under the impression that the comments were there to give and receive constructive criticism, and not just to leave adoring comments (which i have left for you in the past, by the way). if you want to sell things you have to take into account the opinion of the people that you're selling to, and not just the opinion of your friends because of course they will think everything you do is wonderful - and so they should. one thing i have learned is that if you want to sell, you have to take into account the opinion of your potential customers - and i'm not by any stretch of the imagination think i'm speaking for more than myself - and so if people have comments, good or bad, in order to sell successfully, you have to adapt accordingly. when i felt that comment, i did not mean to say i didn't like your work and i didn't mean to start an argument, my only issue was with the price. i'm sorry if i caused offence because i really didn't mean to

Adapt by underselling my work? That's just not fair to me. I also can't compete with mass produced items at a store since I'm only one person.


There's a way to word things and you basically told me my badges should be $1.50 for people to buy them. I find that offensive and I'm not sure how you don't see that as a rude comment.

ok so this is getting out of hand. the point is, i'm very sorry, i didn't mean to be rude or offensive. at the end of the day i'm just some girl on the internet who you don't know who said one off-hand thing - it's not like i'm hurling abuse your way, and besides i've followed you for like 2 years and i'm a big fan. i really didn't mean to cause this much of a stink, i'm just poor as fuck and was letting you know that sadly $20 would be out of my price-range. could we please let this go?? i feel really bad that i've actually gotten contact from you after all this time and i've made such a terrible first impression :/
