Description Medium: Maya 2012, Adobe Photoshop CS5, & nDo2
Year: 2012
Teacher: Joel Stinson
Series Grade: A

Objective: You have been given an alley scene consisting of 3 buildings and a ground surface. The alley is in a gritty urban environment. The structural geometry is fairly low detail and it’s your task to communicate detail, dirt and wear and tear through texture. Tiling textures must be utilized to achieve detail over large surfaces. The goal is realism, but you have creative freedom in color, labels, graffiti, etc . . .

Texture Requirements:
Environment Structure - 5000 tris, 2048 x 2048 (unique) & 1024 x 1024 (tiled) color, normal, & specular maps
Environment Props (dumpster & trashcan) - 500 tris, 1024 x 1024 color, normal, & specular maps

Teacher Commentary: Good use of UV sets and nice detail in color maps. Some of the normals/spec are a bit too strong. A different texture for the ground (less brick like) would add nice variation between surfaces.

NOTES: The models were provided by the teacher for this exercise.
