Digitigrade and Plantigrade — Description
Thought I would share a brief lesson in basic anatomy, showing the very close relationship between the Plantigrade leg and the Digitigrade leg. 'Digitigrade' means they walk/stand on their 'digits' (toes), while 'Plantigrade means they 'plant' their heels onto the ground as they walk or stand.
Both types basically have the same parts, but the animal walks in one of those fashions based on the sizes that each of the parts had grown.
Whenever I hear someone referring to the digitigrade ankle as a "knee", that just annoys me.
