I grew up watching monty python too and stuff like the young ones, the day today, brass eye, fast show and other shows kindof influeneced by them to be honest anything where us brits are taking the piss out of ourselves and others

...other warped influences on my SOH include Cheech & Chong, Firesign Theatre, and Kids in the Hall. For a while I was addicted to SCTV (where John Candy got his start) and...lest we forget...AB FAB!!!!!

omg totally forgot ab fab ( slaps forehead) my best friend went to see the filming of the last episode ( well before they brought it back 
don't know much of the US stuff- although heard of some of it, again us brits love laughing at ourselves and don't really bother looking outside britain for humour ( yeah there is so much to comment on here!!!.) However one series I'm enjoying is My Names Earl- great stuff

My friend, Mark (who's only 22), fell in love with AbFab and bought the dvd collection...but he won't let me borrow it! Bastard tells me to get my own!!!
Although Firesign Theatre isn't British (at least I don't THINK they are), their humor is VERY absurd. In fact, I think they first started around the time Monty Python was becoming popular here (mid-70s), and a couple people have described them as the American Monty Python. Maybe there's somewhere online you could hear some of their stuff...I'll look around...
