Alien — Description

The final piece for Xenovember! 30 days of the #xenomorph, and to celebrate, I figured I'd round it out with something I've never really given proper dues to.

This is a completely new #illustration of the @stanwinstonschool redesign of Giger's original "big chap" #alien #design, and I gotta say, I had a hell of a lot of fun #drawing it. I've got my reservations about #Aliens; it's a great movie, though far from my favourite and makes some creative choices I'm not a fan of, but all that aside, as someone that grew up on the @darkhorsecomics that were being published through the late 80's and early 90's, the ALIENS design was the one that became most emblemic of the property, and despite that, I never really drew it that way.

In Aliens: Defiance, I'd originally wanted to draw all the aliens to have the smooth domes, akin to the alien seen in the original, Isolation and Alien 3, but we were prohibited from using that design because of the production of Covenant, so I popped the dome off but kept the "big chap" style physique instead of leaning fully into this look. Maybe I should've?

Anyway here it is, my first proper run at the Aliens alien to finish off a month of Alien #art.
