Photo Manipulation — Description
In Australia I run workshops where I teach photographers how to present people to look the best they can. This is done through sculpting/directing the aesthetics in addition to creating an environment where the model lets their emotional walls down. Lighting, framing, camera setting ect are also vital in creating the best image. Before each workshop I take the photograhers through a photographic presentation of before and after shots. In many shots the models prior to being directed look like different people as compared to once we have directed them into their best angles and mood. Anyone can snap a shot but putting your creative soul into the photography can create inspiration. The image here is a photo of myself that I took on time delay with a mirror near the camera. Through use of light and forming my own poses I have created an image that even I am happy with. I am now 46 and didn't believe I could come up this well given that in general I don't look like this. I have named the shot Photo Manipulation as this is what I have done with pose, emotion and lighting. However I rarely if ever use digital manipulations other than desaturations or levels. Given how I normally look and how I look in this shot I think it is a classic example of what we can do just with a camera and our own creative ability.
