Description A few weeks ago I decided to re-watch all the Land Before Time movies for nostalgia sake, but when I got to sequel #8 (Journey to Big Water), the nostalgia really hit! I remember there being a playful dolphin-like creature but I forgot how much I LOVE Mo! He is sooooo cute! He's got such a sweet voice and he's such a playful and fun character. It's no wonder that Journey to Big Water is one of my all time favourite LBT films! I just love the relationship between Littlefoot and Mo. The whole "Mud Brothers" thing is so cute! Guahh! I wish Mo was featured more throughout the films! :( (Sad)

Which Land Before Time film is your fave? :) (Smile)

His voice may have sucked in this movie (at least in the opinion of many) but in my head canon Mo's voice becomes very robust after he hits puberty. Although he is talented enough to imitate his old voice to score a few laughs. Laughs that are mostly funny in then and now humor.

Really? I find that the many voices of LF sucked. It just felt too inconsistent after a while. But Mo's voice was personally one of my favourites, just because it's so full of mischievousness yet innocence. I mean, his laugh is just precious! Oh welll, the fans that hate it can keep on hating it, it doesn't really affect me. :) (Smile)

Hey, cute drawing ;) (Wink)

I still love these movies. As a matter of fact, once when I was rewatching these movies for nostalgias sake myself, I noticed just how much I used to adore these movies so I googled around for fun and found a community of fans. Still part of that small fanbase, haha :D (Big Grin)

Unarguingly the best movie is the first. It's been made by Don Bluth himself with mind-blowing animation, a dark yet heartwarming story and one of the best movie scores in existance. Out of the sequels, I'd say it's the 8th movie (The Big Freeze) that I like the most. It was the movie that introduced me to the series back then and it still has a special level of nostalgia that no other sequel can reach :) (Smile)

Also, that movie has Ducky as the main character who (big surprise :P (Lick)) is my favourite of the bunch. I do remember instantly loving the 9th movie with Mo when it came out though, but that love has faded a little since then. Still one of the better sequels I'd say :) (Smile)

Thank you! They are so awesome! I was so surprised that they dragged out the franchise all the way to last year. I wonder if they're going to make more, considering it's such a large franchise. It's a shame it's slowly dying out though. I can barely find any LBT groups here on DA. :( (Sad) The community of fans that you stumbled upon wouldn't happen to be called The Gang of Five, would it? Because I found that forum a few weeks ago and I was thinking of joining it. :D (Big Grin)

Of course! Nothing beats the original, because that's where the magic starts! :D (Big Grin) I love that it has dark themes to it and I just love the narration at the beginning of the film. It really feels like I'm being taken back millions of years ago to when dinosaurs roamed the earth. XD Awwww! That's sweet! Ducky is a pretty cool character, she's just so pure! Awww, bummer, Mo is just so cute! Lolll yeah, it is one of the best sequels. I feel like after the 10th sequel, the franchise just sort of went downhill, and with the VAs constantly being replaced, the sequels never really felt the same as the previous ones. I guess that's unfortunately the reality when you have a series go on for like 28 years!!! XD But I do love seeing how much the animation and details improved as the years went on. :D (Big Grin) I wonder if they'll have a big 30th anniversary or something.

It's a shame it's slowly dying out though.Well, guess what I was like when I first heard of the news that LBT 14 would be made :D (Big Grin) I admit though that it didn't quite meet my expectations... Would love to see another sequel though even if it's kinda like LBT 14...

I can barely find any LBT groups here on DA. Yeah, there are a couple (and I'm admin on two of them (you already joined LBT-Club ;) (Wink) The other one is one I founded. )) but these are pretty small and submissions are moderately low :P (Lick) Not much I have to do there, haha xD

The community of fans that you stumbled upon wouldn't happen to be called The Gang of Five, would it? Because I found that forum a few weeks ago and I was thinking of joining it. Of course! Feel free to join, it's a lot of fun there! I'm Ducky123 on there btw... ^^

I guess that's unfortunately the reality when you have a series go on for like 28 years!!! XD But I do love seeing how much the animation and details improved as the years went on. Well, yeah. I guess you have a point :D (Big Grin) I'd say The Day of the Flyers was the last good one (LBT 12 or the 11th sequel). LBT 10 was still pretty good (especially two of the songs) LBT 11 was kinda okay and LBT 13... ehh we just love to bash that one on the Gang of Five at times :D (Big Grin) Though I'm usually just joining for fun, it's not completely crappy, just a bit weird :D (Big Grin) As for the most recent sequel... lots of potential that wasn't used, Shorty wasn't in there and Wild Arms is more annying than the Yellowbelleis from LBT 13 (which is saying A LOT :D (Big Grin))

But yeah, the animation actually improved (LBT 12 is the best of the newer ones animation-wise I'd say, the others used too much CGI....)

I wonder if they'll have a big 30th anniversary or something.Well, it's overdue. We didn't get anything exciting for the 25th... The deleted scenes from the first movie would be the best gift ever!

(Well, this could have been one of the many discussions we have on the forum, like I said, I'd be happy to see you around there )

Bullet; Black Yeah, the 14th sequel kind of bored me. The songs were just meh, nothing too exciting. If they do make a new sequel, I really hope that it's more entertaining plot wise and the characters go on an interesting adventure.

Bullet; Pink Ahh, I see. Yeah, the character specific groups sometimes aren't as popular as the main fandom based groups I find. Oh well, at least you can keep submitting all your Ducky fanart. :D (Big Grin)

Bullet; Black Wow! I was right! Giggle I probably win join. Sweet, I'll be sure to look out for you!

Bullet; Pink Oh god. Don't even get me started on the 13th sequel. I was soooo disappointed when I watched it. I almost stopped watching it, but I decided to finish it just for the sake of finishing it. But damn! That sequel was just all sorts of wrong. No, I disagree! No, I disagree! No, I disagree! Right? He could have been a reoccurring character and it would have been cool to see him and LF slowly start to build their relationship. I would have loved to see more of Mo, but I guess it's hard since he does live in the Big Water after all. Shrug Hahah, yeah! That IS saying a lot! rofl Yeah, the animation in the 12th sequel was pretty good. Even when you compare the animation from the first LBT movie to the fourth one, you can already see how much they've improved over the years. It's amazing!

Bullet; Black Yeah, it's probably just wishful thinking. I just wish there was more bonus features included with the complete series pack. I mean, sure, they had some songs like "Friends for dinner" and "It takes all sorts" but some songs I really wish they included as bonuses. :( (Sad)

Lollll trueeeee! I will join soon.

The animation actually got a little worse at first (the animation of the first movie was a lot better than that of the sequels. May look a little older but it's just when you look at screenshots and the general movement of characters that you see how much effort was spend on this one Nod )

Well, seeya on there, I hope :D (Big Grin)

Really? I found it got better throughout the series. Like, when they started adding more detail to the backgrounds and added a little bit of shading I thought it made the movies stand out more. :) (Smile) Haha, yeah, maybe!

Well, I'm rather a fan of the old traditional animation which is not to see the digital animation is crap. It's not. :) (Smile) The only digital elements that just don't work are the CGI-animated scenes (the rocks falling onto the Sharpteeth in LBT 13 and several other occasions in the tv-series come to my mind there..)

TMNTISLOVETMNTISLOVE In reply to TheEvilHadrosaur [2017-08-05 02:19:52 +0000 UTC]

Oh no, I get it, so am I. I much prefer traditional animation, just because I drew up with it and I find it more appealing. Yeah, at times the CGI can look rather forced. A lot of shows are guilty of blending the 2 techniques together and half the time it just looks awful! Sweating a little...

TheEvilHadrosaurTheEvilHadrosaur In reply to TMNTISLOVE [2017-08-07 10:09:21 +0000 UTC]

Exactly... either you have to go high-quality CGI or just don't do it... in TLBT they did it rather poorly most of the time when they did. Imagine the show with the animation quality present on the recent disney and pixar movies... now that would be SOMEthing :D (Big Grin)

I grew up with traditional animation in my early childhood but digital was becoming a thing just then so I grew up watching a bit of both. Prefer the traditional animation although the high-quality in modern animated movies is simply stunning and impressive!

TMNTISLOVETMNTISLOVE In reply to TheEvilHadrosaur [2017-08-23 20:17:45 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm, I would probably have mixed feelings about that, considering most of the newer Disney movies are 3D and they just don't feel the same to me. Like, Tangled and Frozen didn't impress me. Shrug  However, Moana and Zootopia were done beautifully and the 3D models look great! So who knows, if it were done by Disney or Pixar, they would most likely be able to pull it off.

Yeah, that's true. I just feel like certain times the 3D animation just doesn't do the show justice. Perhaps it's because the studios have a tight budget or maybe the animation isn't done as well as it could have been, but I find that some shows have pretty cheap animation. I guess it all just depends on the animation studio and how much money they're willing to spend on production.

TheEvilHadrosaurTheEvilHadrosaur In reply to TMNTISLOVE [2017-08-31 23:29:39 +0000 UTC]

yeah, not all 3D animation is good out there. The stuff from the big studios is usually high-quality though though don't get my started on some of the kid shows nowadays...
