Soft sculpture face - later — Description
This is a later stage of a soft sculpture face. The skull base is made from styrofoam and foam clay. The teeth are sculpted as full arches from translucent Fimo. The teeth and gums are tinted with thin layers of watered down acrylic paint and then sealed with high gloss glaze for "saliva." Similarly, the eyes have been modified (I buy standard acrylic half round doll eyes from a few sources) with capillaries. The capillary effect is achieved with polyester thread that is frayed, stuck to the white surface with glaze and then sealed with more glaze. In this case, since the mouth was going to be partially opened, I also added a tongue and the interior of the mouth. The mouth interior/tongue is made from jet set dyed with make up (yep...CoverGirl has MANY uses) and set with alcohol. I added a tongue piercing with a small steel ball taken from a ball chain.
