Description
Since there have been questions I thought I'd make a little series explaining how I create the images I post here. I don't use AI. I manually create and pose characters and then render the scenes. This tutorial will give you an idea of how I do it. (In no case am I saying that doing things another way is wrong. This is just how I do them.) I'm not stopping any of the other series for this; I'm just juggling more balls at a time. That always ends well, right?I intend to make as much of this as possible Safe For Work, but obviously some bits won't be. The rating will vary one some future pages for that reason.
Theoretically this'll be a short (~15 pages?) series, but things have a habit of getting away from me.

Lighting your scene

Beginner noob guess-why we would need ears if hair may just cover them?

It's kind of a thing in rendering (and photography) generally: how sure are you that (thing) won't be visible? The more times I intend to re-use the asset, the more care I like to put into it. If it's a single image and you're positive you won't see, then it's fine. Lots of my pictures don't have a fourth wall, for example. Sometimes I leave an arm/leg that's not visible un-posed. It's always a tradeoff of time spent vs. certainty that the final image will look good.

Because it may not. It would stink to style your character's hair and render and then discover the ears were both bad-looking and visible.

"Learning to make your own hair assets in blender" territory looks kinda ominous to me. Have you spent much time there?

I've made quite a few solid props in Blender, but I haven't tried anything as dynamic as hair yet. I think I could probably do it, but I would budget at least a week of time to do so.

Daz has its own hair creator tool, but still haven't learned how to use it.
