Description Since there have been questions I thought I'd make a little series explaining how I create the images I post here. I don't use AI. I manually create and pose characters and then render the scenes. This tutorial will give you an idea of how I do it. (In no case am I saying that doing things another way is wrong. This is just how I do them.) I'm not stopping any of the other series for this; I'm just juggling more balls at a time. That always ends well, right?

I intend to make as much of this as possible Safe For Work, but obviously some bits won't be. The rating will vary one some future pages for that reason.
Theoretically this'll be a short (~10 pages?) series, but things have a habit of getting away from me.
This is the first page. Next page:
Tutorials directory:Β www.deviantart.com/thevenusvar…

Things I intend to cover:
Creating characters and getting them into your scene
NSFW bits of characters (nsfw, obviously)
Hair/clothes/makeup
Scene creation
Posing characters
Sex scene posing (subs-only, sorry)
Lighting your scene
Making Comic Pages (in Gimp)
If you have questions or the thing you want isn't included in the above list, please ask in the comments!

Use Filament mode for a close to render preview.

Filament mode certainly has its benefits, but I prefer Texture Shaded. Reasonable people may differ.

True, one thing I don't like about texture shading is the sudden change in lighting when you move the camera. Hence why I suggested Filament mode.

I think that might be coming from your headlamp. If you turn off auto-headlamp (Render Settings->General->Auto Headlamp->Never) or the headlamp on your camera (Select Camera->Headlamp->Off), it might get better? (Or else it's from something I don't know about.)

The main problem I've had with Filament is that if I change the exposure level to adjust the lighting to where I like it (Render Settings->Tone Mapping->Exposure Value) then the Filament preview gets washed out or too dark, depending on which way I go. Do you have any idea what to do about that?

Use the filament node to change exposure/brightness instead. I usually prefer to use it to change the brightness without affecting the rendered pic.

Ooh, that is helpful! Thanks.

For anyone seeing this later, it's found at: Create->New Filament Draw Options Node... Β Then you edit its parameters by selecting it in the Scene tab. I think we want the Environment Intensity Scale slider.

I never touch the tone mapping settings, I don't know how to use it in a good way. Besides, part of what tone mapping does, I can do extensively in Affinity Photo.

Thank you for this! I only have requested artists to do art for me until today. Might find from you some inspiration to try own art for a change.

Great idea and really informative. I don't know how you find the time to do so much.

Thanks! I try.

It seems to count as recreation for me. Somehow.
