Description
Okay so this was the winner of the first poll! This is my COPIC Skin tutorial~
I did make a few notes but I'll repeat them here just for good measure lol
This is simply my PERSONAL way of coloring, it is by no means the RIGHT way to do anything. In fact I'm not fully convinced I'm doing anything correctly here but I must be doing something right haha XD
You don't NEED COPIC markers to do this, it's my go-to brand but certainly not the only marker
The lighting in my room stinks so the colors (especially the last panel) came out WAY darker than I intended. They do not look this dark irl, so please keep that in mind.
And with that, I hope you enjoy and find this helpful!
Please let me know if you have any questions, I will be more than happy to clear anything up!

I'm really glad it came out well~ I really like making tutorials and if it's helpful then even better! COPIC's are kinda tricky to get the hang of, not gonna lie but they're very much worth the time and investment ^^

Woow, no wonder ur coloring looks so high quality! U have a shit ton of steps!! Its nice tho, that you have familiar pens (atleast ror me) I use the exact same Sakura liners, and they are fairly cheap and do a great jobππ»UwU when I have money to refill mine and ennough energy, I'd love to try ur tutorial out! This is fantastic! I like how you give little explanations about WHY you're doing things; a list of instructions will fade from my memory as fast as I read it, but the reasoning for why you do it (or do it in a certain way) helps it to stick πAlso, I had no idea that colorless blenders even existed πpart of the mystery of traditional art has been solved!!! Great job!

I'm really glad you like it, thank you! And YES! I always want to know the WHY behind things! Like, don't just tell me to do it, tell me WHY you're doing it and why I should! Lol
Haha! I guess all those years of being an art instructor have paid off! XD
I know right? I actually hated the colorless blender till learned how to use it lol.I'm so glad I was able to play detective and help out~
Thank you very much~

Omg I loved your tutorial!!! β¨ you explained it very well. Btw your lineart is soo beautiful! Uhmm would it be possible to mix markers and pencils? I want to buy markers but only a few colors and I want to decide which ones so I thought I can use pencils in the base color and markers for the darker shades. Thank you sooo much for sharing your process!

Thank you so much, I'm so glad you like it! I'm glad you like my linework too! I've worked really hard on it lol XD
And it's definitely possible, it just depends on the kind of pencil. I personally wouldn't suggest it and here's a few reasons why-
With regular graphite pencils, the marker will smear it like crazy and you won't be able to erase the pencil once there's marker over it. (This goes for certain brands of color pencil too)
If you use pencils that are waxy like prismacolor, then the ink will just lay on top of it, it will not blend because wax and ink do not mix.
If you use pencils that are more "chalky" the ink will turn the dust into a paste.
And I'm NOT saying it's not possible, these are just some drawbacks to be aware of if you wanted to try. Perhaps try some cheaper pencils first and experiment a little. Anything is possible so please don't think I'm discouraging

I'm super grateful!! β¨ I mean, I was waiting for a reply and I got a masterclass. Maybe mixing prismacolor with markers could make interesting experiments π€
You have actually encouraged me to experiment!! and now I know I should experiment with simple drawings, I once mixed watercolors with ink and didn't know the ink wasn't waterproof, I had worked a lot on that drawing and it was ruined π

I'm so glad this was able to help, that makes me so happy! And I'm always willing to lend a hand so always feel free to reach out!
It's definitely worth a shot ^^
Aww I'm so happy to hear that! That's always my goal, to inspire and encourage!
Oh noooo! Ahhh! So you found out the hard way? ;_;
Luckily there are lots of options for waterproof ink and inking pens, just make sure you let them dry completely or they WILL smear like crazy lol. And that usually takes a few minutes. Sometimes there will still be a little bit of smudging especially if you go a little heavy on the inking in some spots, generally because where you ink heavier is often where shadows are stronger and therefor more ink. Usually not a huge deal, just something to keep in mind ^_^
