Description
This painting took place in three phases:Phase 1 - soaking the pages in raspberry and nettle tea, blow-drying them, setting them on fire and extinguishing them, and - finally - papier-mâché-ing them onto the canvas (24"x30") using a mixture of equal parts clear glue and water (this was a release painting, so some tears were spontaneously added)
Phase 2 - brush painting
Phase 3 - sponge painting, painting the edges black, and signing/dating
The pages used include: Toronto Star Oct. 22 newspaper article (on Batwoman), baroque (Fasch?) and holiday ("The First Noel") sheet music, and a children's book ("The BFG").
Paints used include: acrylic, neon, and metallic.
