Infinite Control...02 — Description

If the experience in the back alleyway had been far beyond what Harvey had expected to find this night, then nothing whatsoever could have prepared him for what lay inside. As he followed a darkened corridor down towards the thumping beat of some pounding music, he walked in on a sight, that up until this point, even his wildest fantasies could never have imagined.

It was almost too much to take in. This was obviously some kind of high class strip club. And at first it seemed to have a theme night going, of gorgeous lookalike exotic dancers mimicking the super powered girls of the Justice League. But then Harvey remembered how dramatically the Star clad blonde and the curvy little Arrowette girl had landed in the alleyway. And if he had any further doubts those were wiped out by a Tannoy announcement of Supergirl taking the stage. Sure enough, Superman’s somewhat cuter cousin flew into the scene, taking up the remaining pole position and immediately shaking her wares at the spellbound clientele.

Speaking of spellbound, wasn’t that the League’s showgirl magician? And was she really pulling out of her hat what that looked like? And then in the middle, “Jeez the curves on that girl!!”

Even the waitress seemed to be another one of the super-powered brats. Harvey was about to saunter up and help himself to a much needed drink, when the voice he had heard over the intercom brought him crashing down to earth.

“Detective Bullock! So good of you to join us. Welcome my friend, to the Glamour Slam!”

“Well, well, well…The plot thickens. Lex Luthor! I thought that voice sounded familiar...And…wait! Huh! That dame on your arm…Is that the big blue’s squeeze from the Daily Planet? Whatsherface?… Linda Lang? Or is Lori Lean?..Or…”

“Lois Lane! Thank you very much. You’d think a Pulitzer prize would enable people to get my name right! And I’m certainly no-one’s ‘squeeze,’ as you put it. Well...no one but my darling Lex’s here that is…If he wants to call me that.”

“I would never call you anything so uncouth my dear. But for now, be silent. The men are talking…”

Harvey couldn’t help but notice that for the very briefest of instants Lois’s eyes seemed to have a flicker of anger flash across them. But almost as quickly as it had appeared, it instantly vanished. And her mouth slammed shut, cutting off whatever it had been about to say.

“Wow! You certainly got her well trained Luthor. What’s your secret? You got some kind of magic aftershave or something, that makes all the girls do what you want? Or have you somehow dug up dirt on all of these do-gooders that would trash their lily white reputations?..”

“Lois is a special case. Still you were closer with your first guess Bullock. However it’s not magic. But Science! Though to the uneducated I can understand why the two might be confused. No, unless you have a Ninth level intellect, such as I possess, you could never understand the specific details. But suffice it to say, I have perfected devices capable of transmitting quite irresistible commands…that will override the brainwaves of any woman. Super-powered or not, it makes no difference in the end. They all have no choice but to succumb to my will. And so I have made myself their God and absolute Master. Now they will do anything to please me, and fulfil any and all of my desires.”

“Hmmph! Well you certainly cornered the market in big supervillain speeches there pal. And speaking of market, is that what you got planned for your super-gal nuisances then. Are you showing them off, hoping to sell them off to the highest bidder?”

“Hmm? No, not at the moment certainly. That would attract the attention of the rest of the Justice League. The super-heroines only come here at night. The rest of the time they go about performing all their usual mettlesome pursuits, blissfully unaware of what they do here later…or in the Meta Bordello.”

“The what now? Are you saying…”

“Well you know what they say Detective Bullock. Better to show, than to tell. Here. Take this VIP pass. It will gain you entry to the Bordello building, that normally only the highest spenders have access to. I’ll call ahead, and make sure you have a warm welcome. Provided of course that this all remains our little secret. So can I trust your discretion there Mr Bullock?”

“I…Ah jeez, you definitely know how to sell a guy a piece of the action don’t ye? Must be all those years of being a business man. But yeah, I’m no fool Luthor. And I sure ain’t a saint either. I’ve been watching these show off broads thinking they’re better than us for years now. Prancing about, done up in all their hot skin-tight costumes, no doubt feeling smug about being so untouchable to the rest of us. It’s practically a crime that they’ve gotten away with it for so long. So it’s about time they made some time for us normals. Capisce?”

“Yes, my good fellow. It seems we have far more in common than you might think. I certainly do understand where you are coming from. But for now it’s more important where you’re going. I’ll have one of my servants escort you across to the Bordello. There the lady of the House will inform you of what comes next!”

A crucial difference between this story and the Something Unlimited game though is that in this version Harvey isn't going to be bought off by drinks alone.

Another difference, that keen followers of the game may notice, is the inclusion of Mary Marvel as a waitress. This a tip of the hat to the original 'Formerly Known As The Justice League,' story where Mary Marvel was indeed one of the main heroes mind controlled. As it was this story that inspired the great Justice League episode 'Grudge Match' which in turn then inspired the Something Unlimited game..

Mary Marvel isn't technically in the game yet. But since it's unfinished, anything's possible. (Though granted an evil black costumed version of her from another dimension is in the game. But that's another story entirely..)
