Cannibals Collage — Description

This is a collage I made of cannibals. Kyra Schon's Karen Cooper from Night of the Living Dead (1968). Gunnar Hansen's Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), then there was Bill Johnson's Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986), R. A. Mihailoff's Leatherface from Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990), Robert Jacks' Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994), Andrew Bryniarski's Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) reboot, Andrew Bryniarski's Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006) reboot prequel, Dan Yeager's Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013), Sam Strike's Leatherface from Leatherface (2017) and Mark Burnham's Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2021). I included Helena Bonham Carter's Mrs. Nellie Lovett because she makes cannibalistic human meat pies, although it's not made clear if she is a cannibal herself and eats her own pies.

Almost all zombies are cannibals in zombie movies but I left them out of this collage except for Kyra Schon's Karen Cooper from Night of the Living Dead (1968), because I already made a zombies collage, she's the one that started the cannibal horror movie craze and the zombie horror craze, too.

I left out Elijah Wood's cannibal Kevin and Rutger Hauer's cannibal Cardinal Roark from Sin City (2005) because this is a horror collage and they didn't fit in the collage structure.

Karen Cooper murdering her parents seems based on Lizzie Borden murdering her parents. Leatherface wearing a mask made of human skin was based on Ed Gein wearing a mask made of human skin. The cannibal Pluto and his cannibal family was based on the cannibal Sawney Bean and his cannibal family. Harry Warden/the Miner going insane and being committed to a mental institution seems based on Ed Gein and Norman Bates going insane and being committed to a mental institution. Murderous Doctor Hannibal Lecter was based on murderous Doctor Alfredo Balli Trevino and the Hannibal Lecter cannibalism seems based on Albert Fish and Jeffrey Dahmer. It is unknown if Mrs. Lovett was based on a real person that made and sold cannibalistic human meat pies. Natalia Baksheeva and her husband Dmitry Baksheev did make and sold cannibalistic human meat pies and Joe Metheny made and sold cannibalistic human meat hamburgers. Gross.

Horror films often are a reflection of the things people fear. It's interesting to me to explore the things people fear. I think people should face their fears and try to overcome the fear. Also I'm not a sadist so I prefer the psychological horror and mystery of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), I don't enjoy watching sadistic psychos murdering screaming teenagers. I really enjoy movies that have a relatable and sympathetic character and a heroic figure that defeats the villain. Duane Jones' Ben is sort of the hero in Night of the Living Dead (1968). Marilyn Burns' scream queen Sally Hardesty is the survivor that got away in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974). Martin Speer's Doug Wood is sort of the hero in The Hills Have Eyes (1977). Paul Kelman's T.J. Hanniger is sort of the hero in My Bloody Valentine (1981). Jodie Foster's scream queen Clarice Starling is sort of the hero in The Silence of the Lambs (1991). Ed Sanders' Tobias Ragg becomes sort of the hero in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007).
