{-Personal log, LCpl Judas T. Morrison. Date Log Created: October 16th 2548}

It's been several months since the last big check-in with the Doc. Guess it's time I write one of these self-reflective journals instead of just complaining about the usual bullshit with the Covenant. All in all, I've been doing good actually. I'm quite happy with my progress and I've not had a relapse for quite some time. Don't get me wrong, there's been a few low points here and there but I'm sure as shit not the only one who has 'em in this war. You already know that though.

Just last week we got the news about Meridian. Not many details other than the fact a lone spartan managed to help in the evacuation of most of the population. It's just another reason why I-why almost everyone-look up to them as super human. Still, lots of people took it as bad news. If the Covenant can hit a colony that far out just for the hell of it, then nowhere is really safe at all. I think I heard that one of the guys from another ODST squad had family from there but he never found out if they made it on the lifeboats. I feel for him.

I don't know what I'd do if I never knew if my family lived or died and I know Farrah would be torn up too. Despite what she calls a rocky relationship with her parents she still loves them very much. Something about not following in their religious footsteps I gather but I don't pry too much into her personal life. We got a bit friendly a while back but she's still got a one-track mind on her career. Guess I can't blame her for not wanting to "engage in fraternization" with a guy like me. I'm not perfect but things are on the rise. Just gotta keep working at it and putting one foot in front of the other.

With any luck this Op will be simple like most of the others in the past few months. We got a tip that an Insurrectionist cell was starting up again when a black box went missing from a UNSC base. Intelligence put two and two together and decided Special Forces was the best means to deal with the problem and for once I agree. We got a tip from Intelligence that a Covenant scout force was on the far side of the planet but the Insurrectionists were holed up far from that. Somehow I wasn't terribly worried about it. It'll be nice to drop into the middle of an Innie camp and wreck their shit; a by-the-books smash and grab and then we're out. I don't like leaving Covenant behind to wreak havoc but that's the Army's job. Anyway, gotta drop now so I guess I'll be seeing, er, talking to you on the other side. Still weird to wonder who ends up reading these. Anyway, for the first time in a long time I've finally got a grin on my face as we jump feet first into hell and I couldn't feel better about it.
