Chapter Eleven: Hatter’s and Heads“Hatter!” Blackcat yelled bursting through the door of an old windmill. “Come out we need your help.”
“What are you doing?” Cheshire swatted Blackcat over his head.
“What!”
“We don’t go kicking people’s doors down!”
“Oh really what were you doing after you left the King?” Blackcat snapped.
“Boys!” Airi raised her voice as she walked up. Shiria was right behind them.
“I don’t like this. The town we past was deserted and I swear this place smells like the King's henchmen.” Cheshire looked around as the place looked tossed. He wore his purple scarf and a grey hoodie with purple stripes and pants. He had his abs showing off since the hood went down to his chest. He was wearing the clothes he first met Shiria in but the undershirt was too tight and worn out.
“King probably got a new experiment to hunt me down. Probably found out he helped me out and took him in.” Blackcat groaned.
“Ah! What you do to my door?” A familiar voice came out from behind Shiria. She turned around. A boy with blue hair with an oversized hat on his head stood angered. He had stripped socks and a tail coat tuxedo. A dog tail came out from behind. He had baggy matching purple pants.
“Hatter!” Airi hugged him. Shiria kept quiet as she knew if she called out Kayato she’d get it wrong.
“Why did they knock my door down?” He growled.
“Blackcat didn’t like that you didn’t answer the door.” Cheshire looked around.
“It’s not my fault the place smells like the King’s dirtbags!” Blackcat yelled.
“The King’s soldiers did come by earlier. They just stormed my house for taxes.” Kayato clenched his fist.
“Hatter I’m so sorry. You can move to my castle if you need to.” Airi offered.
Bang! A shot went off. Cheshire gave a gasp as his chest burned. He looked behind him as electricity shot through his body. “Cheshire!” Shiria cried. Blackcat ripped away the spear line and Cheshire gasped again.
“Stay down! Hatter get the Queen and Shiria in the wagon!” Blackcat ordered he looked around. “Cheshire get up there’s an assassin nearby.” Blackcat looked every which way he could with his keen eyes.
Cheshire got up, “Dammit! They never left!” He looked the other way. “Duck!” They dodge another spear.
“Hatter get them outta here!” Blackcat yelled.
“Okay!” Kayato yelled. The wagon started up.
“Ready to knock a few trees down?” Cheshire asked.
“Never thought we’d be on the same team again!” Blackcat winked. They both jumped into the air making whip like energy that dispersed into a million peices and erupted into the ground. Knocking a dozen of trees down a man came out. Then four, then revealed at least twenty.
“Congratulation traitors! Now all you gotta do is find out which is the real me.” The man’s voice called.
“Dammit.” They both sighed.
“We have to go back for them!” Shiria yelled looking through the back of the carriage.
“Shiria they wanted our safety we’ll come back for them. Right now we’re going to get troops to help.” Airi held Shiria looking out the back with her.
Once they got to the castle immediately they sent troops to go to the area where Blackcat and Cheshire once were.
“Cheshire? Cheshire!” Blackcat got up. The room was in very low light. He could hear screams echoing through the room but it wasn’t coming from this room. He knew it was Cheshire’s screams of pain. “Hang on Cheshire I’ll be there soon!” Blackcat started to pound the walls as hard as he could. It didn’t leave a scratch on it.
“How am I supposed to save him if the walls are surrounded in a forcefield?” Blackcat looked up at the ceiling. A ventilation shaft was high above carrying the agony of Cheshire’s pain. “Do they honestly think that’s going to stop me?”
Blackcat leapt onto the ceiling hanging upside down with his claws embedded into the metal. “Stupid scientist, I’m not Cheshire and if I think I’m right about what’s happening to him then I’m going to be so screwed.”
He ripped the vent open and crawled in. He started to crawl his way through when he heard some familiar voices from the opposite direction of Cheshire.
“The bridge is up we can’t get inside. We’ll have to wait for the Queen to talk to the King.” The Hatter reminded Shiria.
“But they can be in a lot of trouble.” Shiria refused.
“Shiria needs the bridge down huh?” Blackcat thought a moment listening to Cheshire’s pain. “Sorry Cheshy you’ll have to wait. I need help.” Blackcat crawled to the entrance of the castle and saw two guards there. “Too easy!” He chuckled to himself. He quickly jumped down and knocked the first into the wall and hit the bridge’s lever to lower it down. He then dodge a blow to the face and slammed the second guard unconscious.
“Blackcat!” Shiria cried.
“No time to waist come on we need to get Cheshire.” He lead the group of soldiers and the two children into the castle. The white Queens knights took hold of the castle easily as many guards defended the area where he and Cheshire would be held hostage. Luckily word didn’t spread quickly of his escape. Blackcat and three knights took out the rest of the guards in front of the room where Cheshire’s screams muted so suddenly.
The door opened and revealed a figure. His metal suit with a visor helmet that hid his face. It looked much like a biker’s helmet but with two long points with openings on the side where two red ears showed. Armor around the arms and legs where rounded off and thick. He had a gun on one hand. A metallic undercoating that had a snake like pattern to the movable parts gave a slick appearance. A red tail flicked behind it. The chest armor was spiked on the sides and fitted to the chest tightly. Wires connected from the back to the legs arms and back of the helmet. It looked painful to wear as blood dripped from it where bolts were carefully placed.
“Stay back Shiria I don’t want you getting hurt.” Blackcat pushed her away.
“Is that Cheshire?” She asked.
“Yeah but he can’t hear you. And he won’t recognize you either. That’s why you need to stay back.” Blackcat looked away for a moment from the horrid machine. He looked down as the girl held Cheshire’s bell collar that came off during the attack of the assassin hired to capture him and the use to be Cheshire.
“Please be careful.” She started to tear up.
“I will and I promise I’ll bring him back.” Blackcat smiled.
“Well done Blackcat I didn’t think you would’ve actually gotten here so quickly but you just fell short again.” A man's voice came from behind. “It’s too late for Prototype.”
“His name is Cheshire!”
“And your’s is Blackcat.”
“It wasn’t before you did this to me!”
“Either way you’ll end up like him.”
“Shut up! I’m not your puppet to toy with anymore!” He charged at the figure. His red highlights in the dark were hardly recognizable. Before he could swing Cheshire had thrown him away from the King.
“Blackcat!” Shiria cried she turned around to look at the poor boy thrown into the wall behind her. The bell collar rang in her hands as she turned. Cheshire’s ears heard the ringing and moved to find it. He couldn’t see. His whole body burned as it moved. His vision was blurred but could faintly see a small figure. He could barely hear but heard her voice panicked from what had just happened.
“I’m fine.” Blackcat got up. He noticed Cheshire tried to remove his helmet. A groaning noise came from it.
“Prototype destroy them.” The King said. Cheshire stopped trying to remove the helmet and swiftly jumped at Blackcat and swung. Blackcat dodge the attack and hit the bottom of the helmet.
“Shiria ring the bell again!” Blackcat ordered.
As she did he started resisting to move. Blackcat pulled some wires from the back and trying to rip the helmet off. The King came at Shiria. “Give that to me!”
“No!” Hatter yelled helping Shiria in the tug-a-war. Cheshire started to cave in to the sensation of fighting again. He started pounding away at Blackcat. The collar had broken and the bell with it. Blackcat was slammed into the wall. He quickly pulled some more wires in hopes of immobilizing the heavy armor. Cheshire’s left arm fell flat. Blackcat was surprised he hadn’t fallen all ready with the amount of blood loss already present.
Cheshire smashed him again with his right into the wall and kneed the poor Blackcat. Blackcat was out of breathe. He looked up and saw a spark forming under the jawline of the helmet. It had a crack in the helmet where he last hit Cheshire . He jumped up slamming down as hard as he could grabbing the helmet and and hitting over and over until the fifth blow and Cheshire fell. The King evaporated and vanished.
“Where’d he go?” Hatter asked.
“He ran once Cheshire fell.” He threw a part of the smashed helmet to the side. He ripped more of the cords of until there were none left on the back of the suit to make sure he still couldn’t fight back.
Shiria looked as some of the Queen’s knights lifted him up most of the helmet was still on him but you could tell it was Cheshire and he didn’t look well at all. Blackcat fell to the ground exhausted. “Blackcat!” Shiria cried.
