Synopsis : "Ghost Spider meets the Secret Warriors."

So, after 4 months , we get our first Marvel Rising follow up special, Chasing Ghosts. How does it hold up? Suit up and find out. This special follows two plots. The main plot concerns Gwen ( Ghost Spider) trying to go after Sheath (voiced by Amanda C. Miller) the woman who murdered Kevin, who teamed up with Exile. She runs into The Secret Warriors, and they have a rocky relationship to deal with. The other plot concerns Rayshaun (Patriot) as he struggles to really gel with the rest of the team during combat practice .

There's two messages presented here. The first is about not going things alone because you're afraid of how people might act, as learned by Gwen. The other message is about not being afraid to go outside the box with your strategy, as learned by Rayshaun.

Lets start with Gwen. She's still shown to be impulsive and hot headed , even blowing off commitments with her friends and family for weeks. However, you can't help but feel bad for her. She's still seen as a fugitive by the law (which is again run by her father), and feels like others won't understand her if she doesn't act all tough and strong. That's pretty sad. It helps that she acts more in defense instead of offense, not actually trying to hurt anyone. Daisy (Quake) also realizes this, and does what she can to help her while still telling her to face her problems and not run away from them.

As for Rayshaun, he is in top form. His rather strict attempt to go for more rigid and conventional methods makes sense. He's been trained to be morally uptight and by the book, hence why he often acts somewhat cold. His dynamic with Doreen (Squirrel Girl) helps show this, given how she was the catalyst for him loosening up .

Now lets talk about Exile and Sheath. The former is still rather sympathetic despite being a villain . He's still trying to carry out Hala's mission due to how he sees her as somewhat of a mother figure whose legacy he wants to hhonor. As for the latter, she's essentially Gwen if she had no moral compass. She's hot blooded and stubborn, but doesn't mind doing her own thing as long as she can hurt others. That's just cruel.

Things really come together in the end. Gwen takes a hit from Sheath to protect her father, who still doesn't know her identity. Rayshaun tries the special strategy from earlier completely on a whim, and succeeds. Captain Stacy then reluctantly thanks her and essentially lets her off with a warning. She then joins the team (with only Squirrel Girl, Quake, and Kamala knowing who she is), and decides to try to patch things up with her father.

This has all the makings of a good special, engaging characters mixed with sleek action. Watch it.
