Ilustração feita para uso no meu blog, Portal dos Mitos. Dué (ou Ndué) é o nome de um ser divino e maléfico oriundo das lendas dos índios Tariana, habitantes de territórios ao redor do rio Negro, na região noroeste do estado do Amazonas. Seria uma espécie de duende, que em certa ocasião usou seus poderes para criar um grande sol, provocando uma enorme seca na terra, além de incêndios nas florestas, matando todos os seres que ali viviam. Terminada a devastação que causou, Dué reuniu os ossos de todos que morreram (animais, peixes, aves e humanos) e os ressuscitou com seus poderes.

Dué (or Ndué) is the name of a divine and evil being derived from the legends of the Tariana Indians, inhabitants of territories around the Negro River, in the northwest region of the state of Amazonas. He would be a kind of goblin, who on one occasion used his powers to create a great sun, causing a huge drought in the land, and forest fires, killing all beings that lived there. After the devastation he caused, Dué gathered the bones of all who died (animals, fish, birds and humans) and resurrected them with his powers.
