Chapter Six: Canadian Stargate Command — Description

While officially a civil research, scientific and engineering operation, the Canadian Stargate Command was also part of the overall Canadian Special Operations Forces Command (CANSOFCOM, French: Commandement des Forces d'opérations spéciales du Canada; COMFOSCAN) of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF, French: Forces armées canadienne ) under the Department of National Defence (DND; French: Ministère de la Défense nationale) with backup and military support by the Canadian Army (French: Armée canadienne), Royal Canadian Navy (RCN; French: Marine royale canadienne, MRC) and Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF; French: Aviation royale canadienne - ARC, the Canadian royal aviation) in shared operations and support roles. The Stargate itself was newly located at a underground facility of the CFB (Canadian Forces Base) Moose Jaw, near the city of Moose Jaw in Saskatchewan, partly powered by Geothermal Energy. The local Canadian Air Force Combat Command would later be turned into the Canadian Space Force, in cooperation with the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), together forming the Royal Canadian Air and Space Forces, but would partially also rely on the United States of American North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and the United States Army Space Missile Defense Command (USASMDC), as the Canadians themselves lacked Nuclear Weapons and Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM) of their own. A own Canadian Forces Space Command was therefore established underneath the Department of National Defense and the Canadian Joint Operations Command (CJOC) to better coordinate, plan and operate everything Stargate and Space related. This included Stargate Command with the 1st Operations Group and the 2nd Operations Group (Reserves and Reinforcements) a Support Group and a Logistics Group, as well as later also the Canadian Space Missile Defense Command (CSMDC), with a own Air Base and Operations Group, as well as Support Group, alongside the Canadian Space Forces Command (CSFC) with the Stargate Group.
Later this also include the Canadian Space Navy Group (CSN), organized into the Canadian Space Navy Operations Group (CSNO), Canadian Space Navy Maintenance Group (CSNM), Canadian Space Navy Support Group (CSNS) and the Canadian Space Navy Medical Group (CSNM). Additionally Canadian Space Forces Command for better overall communications and cooperation's would also include the integrated Canadian Dimensional Forces Group (CDF), which at first operated trough the Quantum Mirror and later trough special ZPM powered Stargate Operations to scout and research other Dimensions and Realities beside the own one. Overall Civil Oversight was in the hand of Civil Commander McKay, who was also one of the chief scientists as a brilliant astrophysicist. According to the Canadian Stargate Command Personal, McKay as a commander was not easy to communicate, or be around with, especially as he tented to dismiss ideas that were not his own, or even in opposition to his own ones, which was why especially many team commanders, thanks to Rodney's mortally allergy to citrus, started to carry them around in a attempt to get him to back off after he had banned them entirely from the Cantina and other places on the base itself. Still with enough time, McKay managed to learn to trust his Commanders of the various Stargate Teams and when they trusted their teammates and personal, McKay began to do so to given some time. Still especially Military Teams and Commanders tented to view McKay as a troublesome leader of the Canadian Stargate Command, who searched for a more scientific resolution and goal most of the time, even when to all military personal it was quit clear that instead a military solution, or answer needed to be presented. This resulted in several overall clashes and disputes between McKay and his team Commanders, as well as questionable Mission Briefings, Operation Plans or others. Quit often various Admirals and Generals designated to the Canadian Stargate Command as advisers and support had therefore to intermediate between the Military Team Commanders and Stargate Command Base civil Commander Rodney McKay himself. While not a overly ideal solution, the more McKay learned to trust his commanders, the more they entrusted and listened to him as well, defusing the situation.
