GENERAL:
Part of a much larger, and ambitious modernization program spotted taking place in the Illuminate Navy Corps, the Angulan-Class is a multi-role vessel, although it is better greared towards search and destroy missions, recon and general electronic warfare. Its various sensor hubs and its multi-purpose drone launcher would further exemplify its role. Although its affinity to more solo roles are very much because of existing Illuminate Doctrine, it very shows there has been some of of change within their apporach to ship design. With its four retrograde thrusters and inclusion of what appears to be space torpedoes, there may be further escalation within the ongoing cold war between the major Avali powers.
The Angulan-Class would also mark a massive trend within the Avali Illuminate's military: a change in its colour scheme, ranging from their infantry to their ships and some of their vehicles to a degree, going from the old white and orange to the more striking black and orange scheme.
No one really knows why this is happening but is suggested to be a part of wider reforms in the post Vandar-Illuminate Civil War world. The Angulan-Class is a very common sight around the Caderum system, although usually escorting cargo ships coming to trade their goods with the Canternine Union, two Angulan-Class Corvettes would target the IFS: Hand of Industry in Feburary of 2844 above Polatora, a mere month after they were introduced.
Ever since the Angulan-Class has been spotted either eyeing down Canternine interstellar colonies or getting into small skirmishes with Vandarian ships of the same size a calibre, seemingly prodding the Vandar Confederacy's defences. Although this has seemed to slow down in the wake of the Zordar Civil War in the 2860s.
