Donkey Kong Country maybe one of the finest forgotten platformers of the older days. While revived as DKC Returns, in a similar vein as New Super Mario Bros; some magic of the DKC series was left in the past. One of those elements was the main baddies; the Kremlings.

After repeated failures to steal the Kong's Banana hoard and occupy their island; years later King K. Rool returns, but this time he doesn't want to take control of the island. This time he simply wishes to destroy it! Using his newly invented Blast-O-Matic; on board his rebuilt Krocodile Isle; he plans to blow DK Island up, however the incompetence of his minions proves to be his undoing this time around.

The creator of the Blast-O-Matic; Snide, after being betrayed by King K. Rool, assists the Kongs in sabotaging the weapon, and ultimately the Kongs deactivate it. Realizing his plans are falling apart; King K. Rool quickly attempts to escape on board the Flying Kroc; however this time around his ride is smashed out of the sky by K. Lumsy; a Kremling he imprisoned for being too soft, and the Kongs freed to help fight back the Kremling army. With the Flying Kroc downed, the Kongs enter the remains of the ship to find K. Rool's last stand..... a boxing match...?

This time around; K. Rool offers a larger and more diverse moveset then ever before; forcing all the Kongs to fight together using their abilities. His moveset consists of his own variation of the Simian Slam, Boxing Jabs, a Boomerang Glove, Furious Rushes, wiggling his toes, and even a massive Uppercut that can floor even Chunky Kong. He also reuses his invisibility move from DKC2. Despite his massive and desperate attempt to win via any means possible (even having the judges clearly biased by both being Kritters); King K. Rool is finally floored by Funky's Boot-Bazooka, and is sent packing. This would be the final time we saw K. Rool as a main villain of the DKC games; aside from the Spin off Donkey Kong: King of Swing. He would also appear in DK: Bongo Blast, a Racing Game for Wii; and in Mario Super Sluggers; but he has yet to appear in any major role beyond these.

Update: King K. Rool has finally returned after all these years; in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. The King of the Kremlings returns to us as a tough, strong villain; and reminds us of just why we loved him oh so much back then; while remaining intimidating all the same.
