Biography:
Swiftstep lived a pretty basic life - he never knew his father and his mother died early in his apprenticeship of greencough. But the tom got over that with time with the aid of his best friend, Sunpaw. The two were inseparable, both with their minds full of dreams of becoming leader. "When I'm leader," the golden tom once said. "You'll definitely be deputy." The thoughts remained among his thoughts since the splotched tom knew Sunpaw would be leader some day. One day, the two set out hunting by their mentors. While talking, Swiftpaw was almost attacked by a fox but was saved by Sunpaw just in time. Swiftpaw stumbled a bit away but was too shocked and scared to react, only to watch as their mentors arrived and drove the fox out. In a fit of panic, Swiftpaw blacked out. Waking in the medicine cat den, memories of his friend being killed momentairly forgotten. However, upon seeing his friend's limp body, he was triggered into a flash back that sent him into a panicked worry, almost causing him to attack his mentor in a fit of rage to get to his friend's body. Once Sunpaw was buried Swiftpaw couldn't be convinced to leave his nest.

¤ About a moon later, Swiftpaw was announced his Warrior name, Swiftstep, after being coaxed from his nest and his depression beginning to ease. Although wanting to be happy, the tom was torn, thinking it unfair that he were alive and Sunpaw wasn't. However, Swiftstep grew, becoming a bit distanced from the rest of his clan. He was friendly and helpful - just, closed off, and somewhat distant. But he was content - there was no one for him to lose. One day, a fire rushed throughout Thornclan, and Lionleap headed off to help - Swiftstep, Duckpaw, and Flarepaw in pursuit. At some point, a lit branch hurtled downward, slamming into Lionleap while missing Swiftstep and the two apprentices. Horrified, the warrior herded the apprentices back over the border, the image of the warrior's body being crushed replaying over and over in his mind.

¤ After the fire, Duckpaw was named Swiftstep's new mentor. Swiftstep was somewhat hesitant, the death of Lionleap still fresh in his mind. But he accepted it, even taking the moment to start off with battle training. While training, however, a coyote attack ravaged through their territory. Swiftstep told Duckpaw to return to camp as he went to help with the attack. Upon arriving, he noticed the bodies of Silverpaw and Dragonswipe. He, Tumbleweed, Vinestar, Rowanpaw, and Flarepaw all fought to drive them off, ending with Rowanpaw seriously injured. Once driven off, the group returned to camp with the deceased and the injured. Swiftstep returned to find Duckpaw gone and began to panic, only to have her burst into camp in a frenzy. The warrior, still shaken with shock and horror, began to scold his newly named apprentice out of sheer worry - appearing more as anger and frustration.

¤ Swiftstep was named deputy and has become more distant and worried. At one point, all the apprentices left camp, causing the tom to panic and become overly worrisome about their well-being. Upon finding them, he proceeded to yell at the group and punished them with cleaning all the dens. Duckpaw seemed especially hurt, slinking off to do as said. As the tom cooled, he realized how rash he had been, and decided to refrain from telling the mentors of the apprentices. While cleaning, Duckpaw happened to hurt herself, causing Swiftstep to once more panic and bring her to the medicine den. After she had been treated to, she asked to speak to Swiftstep alone. However, mid-conversation, the deputy froze, causing Duckpaw to turn tail and leave him be. Disappointed in himself, he left camp for awhile, figuring the clan was good for the time being.

"Duckpaw was apprenticed to me after Lionleap's death - which... more or less we could put me at partial blame for. It's been tough for me to even get used to having her as an apprentice, let alone being friendly to her. But I honestly couldn't ask for another apprentice and... well maybe it's weird but I'm starting to see her as my daughter. Is that weird? I hope it isn't. I don't know. I just really hope nothing bad happen to her I can't even begin to imagine something like that."

"A good friend of Duckpaw's! Silly sort of guy as well. He and Duckpaw get along really well - they train well together too. Plus it never hurt to lend a paw in helping another cat get closer with someone he likes." [Swiftstep laughs.]

"Have you ever felt guilty and scared of how you feel? That's how I feel when I look at Rainstep. I mean she's sweet and pretty but... Starclan she's already had a mate and for some reason I think of Sunpaw whenever she walks by." [Exasperated sigh.] "I don't know. I'll just... keep it out of mind for now."
