Ed Gets Ed...ucated — Description
Ed reading a copy of "Idioms for Idiots" (yes, that's what the Progress City lettering says. Only Ed's finger is over the F because I haven't figured out what F looks like yet ). Because, especially the first few episodes, he has a tendency to take phrases a little too litterally...no, Captain Hotdog, you don't get a hotdog. Nor are you a captain. XD

Actually attempted to use the fat-ankle style off the show. It's...tollerable. Not what I'm used to, but I ought to learn to adapt my art anyway. No sense being a concept artist if I can't make my work blend into an established world or with the other artists. 'Cause when you have four different artists with four different styles designing the characters, you end up with Xiaolin Showdown and their mix-'n'-match team. The style makes sense when animating in 3D (we had some ankle deformation issues in our 3DSMax class last semester that wouldn't have happened with fat ankles like they did with realistic), but when sketching 2D it feels too...simplified. I might feel differently if I were animating it, though...even a flippin' piece of string or a plain ball gets annoying after the first five thousand sketches. XD

And I think I got his suit right...I think. I tried, anyway. A thousand Googled reference pictures later, I think I may have actually got the patterns. And his hair...he doesn't look like a demented Troll doll reject, yay! That was giving me problems...

And a green pillow because...it needed something brighter than the blue behind him to ballance out the yellow in front. My other choice was neon salmon. Be happy I went with green.
