Spring bees — Description

This poster-style illustration presents several wild bee species together with the flowering plants they pollinate, highlighting the complex relationships within pollinator communities. It also shows brood parasitic bees such as Nomada and Sphecodes and their relationships with host species. These parasitic interactions are indicated with red arrows.

The illustration also includes schematic cross-sections of nests of Andrena and Colletes, showing different developmental stages within brood cells. In one scene, the parasitic bee Sphecodes albilabris is depicted attempting to break into a Colletes nest cell.

The idea for this illustration was inspired by my participation in the RestPoll Project , which studies pollinator diversity and ecology.

My goal with this work is to visualize not only species diversity but also the ecological networks that connect pollinators, plants, and parasites.
