Description
Dealing with the tariff situation forced us to focus outside the US was a running disaster. And since we’re waiting for new equipment in Japan, Big Stitch collectively decided to take two weeks off. The others will tell you I’m a workaholic, but I needed the break too. Even with the problems had been a good year. We had an amazing amount of publicity, the Chinese and so-to-be Italian subsidiaries are coming along and the balance book that indicated we just might show a profit by next year. That would be about two years ahead of schedule!
I’m not a believer, but I’ve always loved the sound and feeling of Christmas. For the last two years I wandered the streets at night looking down at all the decorations and wishing I was five-ten and sitting by a fire with a glass of eggnog in my hand. A few weeks ago something snapped and I decided I needed to celebrate. My first thought was going into the woods and bringing back a tree. I’ve been walking there on my mornings off since September and have come to love the place.. There aren’t that many pines and most are scraggly and small - not even as tall as I am. And when you think about it, where would it go? It’d have to be something really small to fit in the warehouse - maybe a little twenty footer. It’d be fun to decorate, but I came to the conclusion it’d be better invite a few of the calls and decorate a tree in the woods with paper ornaments we could make at home - and we could bring things for the birds and squirrels to feast on. There are three of us in the area and several normals with ties to the business. We could all sing and dance and tell stories. Now all I had to do was find the right tree in the right setting.
The woods are so beautiful today. There’s still a bit of morning fog from the river and it’s really not that cold. Even if I don’t find anything it’ll be worth the effort.
Wait — over there! Maybe that’ll work!
