Description
She will be the third gym leader who uses dark types also she will be the older sister of Julian, she will probably be the difficulty spike gym leader as one of the things I love about the Switch Pokemon games is when they point out the gym less trainers are able to beat. While working on this drawing I had an idea for the story where she would challenge the main to a battle before he takes on her gym and beats him to see if it would discourage him from trying to battle her again (maybe have it be a questionable decision). For Falsound I tried making it seem like a fox disguised as a dog as a form of deceit to represent its dark typing.

I actually drew Falsound first (mentioning as I tend to draw humans before creatures in these drawings) so Mai's scaling was actually based of Falsound's position. For Mai's outfit I tried to lean away from the type themed colour scheme, the red top and gray shorts feels like a generic colour combo but I do like the more normal look it gives her. I gave her gray hair as I realized both my previous 2 gym leader designs had blue hair and I felt I needed more hair colour variety. I like Falsound's colour scheme, I do like its features just feel I could probably draw out its design a little better, I want to draw its pre-evolutions though so will probably re draw him too.
