Cassandra Caternor by RubyDessert — Description

Cassandra Caternor, eldest daughter of Lord Caternor of the Northern March, was born on Saint Agnes’ Feast a night when the castle halls lay cold and silent, as though the snow itself had swallowed every sound.
Though she is the firstborn of a house both powerful and revered, her name is scarcely known in the capital. She has never been seen standing beside her father at banquets, never presented at court, never acknowledged in the ceremonies where noble daughters are meant to shine. The faces most recall are those of the Caternor sons composed and promising and the younger sister properly introduced to society.
All but her
No one claims she is absent
And yet, no one has ever truly seen her there
At thirteen, Cassandra lives within the very walls of her own family’s castle, clad in modest garments and a servant’s headscarf, blending more easily with the quiet figures of the back halls than with the candlelit grandeur of the great chamber. Her snow-white hair and soft pink eyes bear colors unseen in all of Kyrovia, hues so rare that those who glimpse her remember at once that she is different though few can say why.
And yet, this unseen girl holds a place of singular importance
She is the betrothed of Crown Prince Cassius.
The engagement was arranged by Lord Caternor himself to bind his house to the royal line. They were formally promised when Cassandra was ten years old, and the prince twelve.
Thus her name is inscribed beside the heir to the throne, even as her face has never graced a single royal gathering.
