I wouldn't be surprised if the reason the title 'Max' was bestowed upon this role is because the Fable piper of that name once held it, and was especially effective.

My best guess at the moment's that her family's linked to the Church of Blood in some way. I would've said that she's the Earth-27 equivalent of the Duke of Deception but Wondie already dealt with him long before WW1 happened. Maybe she could've been Lya, the daughter of the Duke, but I don't think that idea lines up with what little we know about her at all, plus she's a pretty damn big deep-cut even for this project.

So this was lovely twist in the road for me. Given the greater connections to the larger DCU and what little is given about backstory here, i’mma speculate there’s a connection to Ares, God of War? Probably way off base. Great stuff here.

Scary Thought: What’re the odds that she’s supplied multiple hero teams with intel and may even still be doing it without them even knowing? Because from how bored and apathetic she looks, I get the feeling someone of her incredible skills and phenomenal ability does whatever she wishes, not for reasons as trite as amusement or profit, but simply because she wants something to do.

Well she’s terrifying already, a literal ghost who looks intimidating AF, especially with the golden sith-like eyes. And she’s possibly Checkmate, so the last thing we need is her acquiring Brother Eye.
What‘s even more terrifying is this Question: is her influence enough that she could even send hero teams after targets she needs or wants taken out? Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if she tries to eliminate the Losers by sending the Blasters after them.
But that‘s not all, for I believe that she‘s not just a Checkmate operative, ohohoho no, I think she may be the Max who commands Checkmate as its Black Queen.
