The Low-pitched Fin — Description

Most commonly found in rainforests, these loud dragons cling onto branches of the tallest trees. They prefer gliding over flying, though they're able to use their wings to gain great speed in the air, and can also make sharp manneuvers thanks to their tail fin. Their most characteristic aspect is their screech, which is produced when they inflate the sack on their neck, producing a low frequency noise, that can momentarily stun creatures in front of it. While it is usually used for defense, they will also use it to create rythmic noises between them, usually leading to groupal dances that can break branches of trees due to the amount that can gather. Interestingly enough, these noises don't seem to be used during mating, choosing to do aerial manneuvers instead to impress females, with nupcial flights when a pair is formed. A recent study done on these creatures found out that they are actually deaf, but are able to perceive the vibrations from low noises, even at a low volume, which would explain why they will gather from far away during their tropical music festivals.
