Physical Description: Roderick is a big cub! Definitely taking after his tiger genetics and, while he and his siblings are technically the same age, he's taking the 'big brother' role literally. His fur consists of classic orange and black (or dark grey) tiger colours, but with a touch of grey from his mother's side of the family and inheriting his yellow eyes from them too. Rod also matches his mother with a solid black neck with a light underside.

Confident
Roderick carries himself with a beaming self-assurance that can't be extinguished. He'll talk to anyone and everyone that'll listen to him. However he can certainly come across as cocky and arrogant in his young age with little experience. Someone needs to humble this kid!
Tenacious
Headstrong and unyielding, Roderick thinks he can take on the world and nothing will stop him. He wants to be the best of the best, both for selfish reasons but also so he can stand strong for his family.
Hot-headed
'Fiery' can be used to describe more of himself than just his coat colour. This little guy is short-tempered and he definitely won't be the type to keep it to himself. If you tick him off, expect to get pounced on!
Loud mouth
This little guy is opinionated, and very loud about it! Roderick doesn't have an 'indoor' voice and can be very rude at times, such as answering back when he's being scolded or butting heads with other youngsters.
Rebellious & Wayward
Perhaps to the dismay of his parents and those looking after him, Roderick is an unapologetic trouble maker. He'll be the first to suggest sneaking off out of camp and generally not following rules. As a young cub, he doesn't understand what the big deal is and doesn't like being told what to do. A definite problem for being born into an Empire at war.
Loyal & Protective
Despite his apparent disobedience, Roderick loves his family to death! Taking on the role of 'the protective big brother', he will stand by his family and guard those he loves with all his (tiny) might, even volunteering to take the fall for his siblings or friends to save them from any punishment that may be on the horizon. He already gets in plenty of trouble, what's another scolding?

Building the Foundations

Born into an Empire in the throes of war to a family in chaos, Roderick and his siblings hardly had a picture perfect start in life.
Before they were born, their parents, Finn and Wren, had been experiencing a seemingly unrelenting barrage of hits to their close-knit family. Members being taken or disappearing, and others suffering a far more tragic fate. The news of pregnancy on top of all this was understandably met with worry and concern above all else, and no one would be more nervous than the expecting first time parents. However, beneath the waves of constant turmoil, were two cats who held an unbreakable bond. Stronger than steel, forged in a tempest and made stronger in tragedy. Wren and Finn loved each other dearly and completely. In a way, the ever deepening and reinforcing bond could be called a silver lining in a very darkened cloud.
After the litter's arrival, their lives only became more strenuous. Of course the young parents couldn't be happier with the new tiny bundles of fur! But, this meant they had additional reasons to stay busy, making sure their family and the Empire at large was protected and prepared, now more than ever. Their mother Wren, Order of the Wind; observant, tactical, and smart. And their father Finn, Order of the Storm; courageous, fearless, and strong. Both were major assets in the conflict ahead, and had to perform their tasks at the whim of the Empire's Captain whenever they were needed. Which was more often than they'd like, considering their new arrivals. Any spare moments they had, however, were spent together with their cubs. These brief flashes of peace and bliss meant everything. A reminder of what they were fighting for.
For Roderick, it was moments like that which fuelled his fire, his protective nature growing stronger by the day. From such a young age it had been drilled into him that their family was everything, and everyone must work together to keep it safe. While this sentiment was likely aimed more at the older members with the conflict becoming more and more imminent, the little cub still took it to heart. He would try his best with all his (tiny) might!
Was this the worst possible time to have cubs? Maybe. There's never really a good time, but on the other hand, there's certainly a better time. Despite it all however, the family stood strong, overcoming it all, unmoving. The formidable foundations of something great.
