Description
So about 3 or so years AFTER finishing the 1971 Kamen Rider series that started it all, I finally decided to make my piece in honor of it. Timely, I know, but to cut myself some slack it is still fitting given the franchise's 55 anniversary just recently with a ton of news.
Here we have Kamen Rider 1 (Takeshi Hongo) and 2 (Hayato Ichimonji) the main masked heroes from the original show, sporting my preferred versions of their respective armors, when they first crossed-over in Episode 40. I prefer it when their looks are similar but not exactly the same, and seemingly the films Kamen Rider The First and Shin Kamen Rider took a similar approach when depicting their versions of Takeshi Hongo and Hayato Ichimonji.
Both are pretty iconic, being the first heroes and the first double riders, which later series would expands to having their own two or even three Riders in their series, tho here Hongo and Ichimonji are much more brotherly in their heroic duos, while other Riders start as rivals and eventually become allies, depending on the show.
The Background is a similar effect of when their belts begin to spin and transform them, which might've been the most annoying part alongside the coloring for this one. I struggled with finding the right tones for both Riders as there's a lot of subtle yet very palpable tones in their armors, and I had to experiment with different tones which meant sometimes changing order of layers and...yeah, bit of a nightmare, but it came out well I think.
Also, unlike my previous pieces for Black and Black RX, I did not make Rider 1 and 2 to be chibi-esque versions of themselves as I figured I outta give a higher sense of respect to the originals that were there before the others (not to belittle the other Riders, I also respect them on their own ways) and as such I made them with as more fitting proportions as I could. Other pieces for series I've seen like Gavv and Agito might see use of the more chibi style, or I might just keep the more "realistic" style, who knows, but I'll try to make these pieces in a more timely fashion...after I'm done catching up xD
No one's going to read all of this...
