Part 2 - Bug Cities

What you can see above are the remainings of a tree freshly felled, a tree that I knew since my first passing ages ago, together with other ones. They surrounded a little football pitch, which also had a tiny wood right beneath it. As a kid I used to play hide'n'seek with my friends in this forest or searched for interesting objects - we mostly found bones, ugh. But it was a great childhood; now there are only some few trees remaining and it is by far not as thick as it was in the past, which is very sad. However, it relieved me a bit that the stubs now became metropolises of bugs. Trees are so important for our world - they are habitats for many species, food for many species and they convert carbondioxide to oxygen which is of course one of the most basic conditions for our existence, but unfortunately they are also a good building material.

I have nothing against self-made plantations. Wood is a very important resource for mankind and I couldn't imagine a life without it. But as everywhere in nature, we have to keep the whole system balanced. I can imagine that the trees which I have spoken about had to be felled because they were to rotten, which I could normally totally understand because safety especially for kids is necessary, but the football pitch isn't even used anymore.
